The First Two Xbox Camo Controllers
While Microsoft has released dozens of official designs for Xbox Series X controllers, the camo craze started with the 2019 release of the Night Ops Camo Xbox Wireless controller, which dropped alongside a more orthodox Sport Blue version. The controller’s light and dark grey, black, and golden camouflage patterns are complimented by the black sticks and buttons. This pattern makes Night Ops Camo a great companion for theCall of Dutycampaigns, or for fans of other military shooters.
The next year, Microsoft added a second camo option via the winter-themed Arctic Camo. Reminiscent of military snowsuits, the Arctic Camo version fits a sniper on thesnow-clad hills ofPUBG’s Vikendior the tundras ofSkyrim. The design has been so popular that it was adopted by peripheral manufacturer Turtle Beach in its Recon Xbox controller. It is noteworthy that both of these first-generation camo controllers are not currently available on Microsoft Store, but can be found on Amazon and other retailers. Both are compatible with the newest generation of Xbox consoles.

New Xbox Camo Controllers with Improved D-Pads
The third addition to the series came in early 2021 whenMicrosoft announced the Daystrike Camocontroller with a bright red camouflage theme. In addition to the regular features found on all Xbox Wireless Controllers, the Daystrike Camo was the first to incorporate a textured grip across the top surface of the bumpers so that users can get a better hold on the controls. The Daystrike Camo also changed to a hybrid D-pad that improves upon the two previous camo models' classic Xbox One D-pads.
The most recent version of the camo design is the colorfulMineral Camo Xbox Wireless Controller, which released this week. The blue-toned controller offers a burst of bright colors, which sets it apart from all the previous camo variants. Alongside the controller, Razer also announced a Universal Quick Charging Stand that complements the marine blue theme of the controller.
Custom Designs With Xbox Design Lab
Team Xbox offers camo lovers even more options if they don’t have a preference for one of the aforementioned models.Xbox Design Lab offers a tool for customizing Xbox controllersat an additional fee, with combinations in the billions. The design elements include 10 different sections ranging from the color of the body to including rubberized grips, and even custom engravings.
In addition to solid body colors, Xbox Design Lab lets the users choose from five different camo patterns to perhaps try and match theirfavorite in-game camo skinsby combining them with different color options. Arctic Camo is similar to the standalone Arctic Camo Special Edition controller, although with slight differences. Mineral Camo offers the same pattern as the recently announced special edition controller. The remaining three camo options aren’t offered outside the custom design tool. Sandglow Camo combines light pink and grey shades, Blaze Camo is a bold, orange, and red theme, and Forest Camo is a classic camouflage with green-shaded patterns that should appeal to old-schoolXboxfans.
