Apex Legendsdata miner That1DataMiningGuy has uncovered files that strongly suggest a new 3rd person mode could be in the works for the battle royale game.

That1DataMiningGuy has now discovered a full-fledged 3rd person feature hidden within the code of the game, related to players being able to customize their skins inApex Legends. The first clue that That1DataMiningGuy found was an “Opt-In/Out” feature that changes between first-person and third. The next indication came along with a potential indicator that tells players what level of armor their enemy is wearing before they shoot them and also featured the “Opt-In/Out” 3rd person add on. Most battle royales have a third-person perspective, likePUBGandForntite. However,Apex Legends, one of2019’s best Multiplayer games, has yet to join in on the 3rd person experience in any meaningful capacity.

It should be pointed out thatApex Legendshas had a 3rd person mode as an easter egg, but not as an actual gameplay feature. One of the easter eggs found inApex Legendsincludes a firing rangethat lets players switch to a 3rd person view if they complete it correctly. In the easter egg, players had to follow a series of seemingly pointless steps in order to get the camera behind their character.

Fans assumed that this easter egg was just a fun side quest, but That1MiningGuy implies that this could be much more. Previously, Apex’s features have been added because fans havebegged Respawn Entertainment to add them. However, it’s hard to say how soon the 3rd person perspective feature will be as many fans have missed the firing range easter egg altogether.

Right nowApex Legendsis celebrating “Mirage’s Holo-Day Bash"with winter holiday-themed skins and gear. In the past players were only able to see their characters' skins while in the loading and customization menu, and hopefully, they’ll be able to see their new duds in action with the 3rd person view.

It’s unclear at this time when the 3rd person perspective will be implemented into the game, if at all, but with Season 4 delayed until February next year,Apex Legendsis taking its time in Season 3.Apex Legendshas only explored a few short events including the Duos mode in November, and the Shadowfall horror mode for the Halloween-themed event.

Apex Legendsis available to play now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
