ARK 2, the follow-up toARK: Survival Evolved, was officially revealed last week at The Game Awards presentation. What many somehow missed when the title was unveiled, was that when it arrives, it will launch as a console exclusive for the Xbox Series X and Series S, alongside the PC version.

Aaron Greenberg of Microsoft took to Twitter shortly after the official unveiling ofARK 2in order to announce the console exclusivity. As it turns out, that it won’t be appearing on the PS5 anytime soon is one of the few details known about the project. The other big piece of news specifically surrounding Studio Wildcard’s newest project is that the developers have attached a rather unexpected name to it.

RELATED:ARK 2 Announced With Vin Diesel

Vin Diesel has astarring role in ARK2and not just a character in the game. In addition to lending his voice and motion capture work, the actor is also officially a developer on Studio Wildcard’s upcoming title. As an actor, Diesel plays Santiago, a group leader who pulls off some impressive moves in order to protect his tribe from predators in the reveal trailer. Off-screen, he’s taken on a role as an executive producer.

In fact, Diesel’s involvement with Studio Wildcard’s project doesn’t end withARK 2. He’s also an executive producer on theanimated series based onARK: Survival Evolvedthat was announced the same night as the new game. This upcoming series already boasts quite a star-studded cast well ahead of any official release date. It isn’t yet known whether Diesel might be doing double duty on that project as well, or whether he’ll simply remain behind the scenes for the show. Showrunners haven’t said where exactly the spinoff series will land. Experts expect that the program will launch right around the same time asARK 2.

Even if Diesel doesn’t lend his voice to the cartoon, it will still have enough star power to carry it.Dr. Whoactor David Tenant lends his voice to the animated series, presumably as the same character he recently made anappearance as onARK: Survival Evolved. Tenant is joined by Gerard Butler (best known for his role in300), Jeffrey Wright (Westworld), and Michelle Yeoh (Star Trek: Discovery), among others. Since Tenant is expected to voice the same character in the game and the series, there’s a possibility the same could be said for Diesel.

ARK: Survival Evolvedgot a lot of praise over the course of its development cycle for an evolving story featuring a prehistoric-themed civilization existing among super-advanced technology. It’s safe to assumeARK 2builds on that success and popularity.

ARK 2will launch in 2022 for PC and Xbox Series X.
