Of course, fans ofAttack on Titanknow that the series is mainly known for its engrossing plot that throws a number of curveballs, especially in the latest season. The best part is that these plots aren’t just cooked up out of nowhere, but have been carefully built up overAttack on Titan’s runtime. This can be seen through the various moments of foreshadowing in the series, with the most brilliant of the lot being mentioned below.
10Eren Commenting That He Recognizes The Crystal Cavern
After being abducted by Rod Reiss, Eren ends up being bound and chained in a crystal cavern. A rather odd moment follows where he talks about how he recognizes this place, before this comment is ignored in favor of the bigger picture.
It turns out that Eren passed this comment because he actually has been here… but in the future. This references the scene whereEren has to go back into the pastso that he can convince his father to kill the Reiss family and steal the Founder Titan.
9Ymir Mentioning A Monkey, Only For Eren To Be Confused
After Zeke’s Titan makes an appearance for the first time, the entirety of Paradis Island calls it the Beast Titan. The obvious connection to an ape is missed by these people since they’ve never seen a primate on the island.
When Eren is forcefully brought along with Reiner, Bertholdt, and Ymir, the latter mentions howthe Beast Titan looks like a monkey. Given that this is the first time Eren has heard this word, he’s noticeably confused about what a monkey really is.
8Kruger Mentioning The Names Of Mikasa And Armin
This might not be the subtlest piece of foreshadowing around, but is still a notable moment in the series that deserves a mention. After all,Eren Kruger is one of the most important characters in the story, with his sacrifice allowing Grisha to take over the power of the Attack Titan.

One rather perplexing moment during this moment comes when Kruger talks about how Grisha needs to protect both Armin and Mikasa, a statement that confuses both individuals. It’s only after the true nature of the Attack Titan’s powers are revealed that viewers understand the significance of this line.
7Cutting To Both Reiner And Bertholdt When Eren Describes The Titans
Out of all the new recruits in the military, only the main trio had actually seen the Titans that had broken down the walls. So, when everyone finds out about this, they pester Eren for a description of the Titans who attacked the walls.
While describing both the Colossal and Armored Titan, the camera veers to find both Bertholdt and Reiner respectively. It’s a brilliant piece of foreshadowing that most people won’t notice the first time around.
6Eren Becoming Berserk During His Fight Against Annie
While this might be a stretch, it’s possible that Eren’s berserker phase during his fight against Annie foreshadowed his ruthless nature in the final stages of the series. In fact, the future Eren might’ve been controlling his younger counterpart during this battle!
To make things worse, Eren also makes random comments about destroying the world during this battle. Given his hand in the Rumbling, these statements carry even more weight.
5The Scene Where The Recruits Have To Choose Their Military Branches
After being given a choice between all military divisions, the series takes an extended look at the thoughts of each person making this decision. However, some people don’t have their thoughts broadcasted for everyone to hear.
These people are Reiner, Bertholdt, Annie, Krista, and Ymir. Given the backgrounds of all five characters, it’s easy to see why the series didn’t spill the beans early by letting viewers hear their inner thoughts.
4Bertholdt About To Transform During The Battle At Castle Utgard
The battle at Castle Utgard shows just how brutal the Titans really are, with multiple members of the Survey Corps losing their lives during this moment. After being pushed into a corner by the Titans, it seems like things are over for the main group before Ymir reveals her ability to turn into a Titan as well.
Keen viewers would’ve noticed Bertholdt in a rather odd pose during this moment. It seems that he was willing to blow his cover and transform into a Titan to avoid deathbefore Ymir saved the day instead.
3Eren Finding Out About His Heinous Actions After Touching Historia’s Hand
The most notable piece of foreshadowing occurs near the end of Season 3, when Eren touches Historia’s hand and unwittingly looks into the future. Again, this might not be subtle, but it’s still quite perplexing for fans of the show regardless.

It’s only later that fans found out that he was actually taking a peek into the future and the horrifying actions he would take. Eren witnesses everything from the Rumbling to Grisha’s massacre of the Reiss family… but with him orchestrating both events this time.
2Reiner “Escaping” The Female Titan
Whenthe Female Titan is introduced, viewers see Armin, Jean, and Reiner talk about this Titan. After deciding on a course of action, Reiner recklessly takes his hood down and charges toward the Female Titan.
He is grabbed and almost crushed before escaping, but viewers realized that this was nothing more than a sham. He put his head down to show Annie that he was a friend, cut the details of Eren’s location on her palm, and made a big show of escaping to avoid any suspicion.
1A Focus On Eren When Connie Talks About The Horrifying Act Of Killing Children
After the Survey Corps learn about Grisha’s massacre of the Reiss family, the group mainly understands Grisha’s heinous actions. However, some things are hard to stomach for Connie, who talks about the heartless act of killing children.
The camera then focuses on Eren for a brief moment, which makes for a brilliant moment of foreshadowing. After all, fans found out later that it wasan older Eren that ultimately forced Grisha to commit such a horrid act.
