Kay uploaded a video to Twitter that explains that the animator first had the idea for the opening sequence ten years ago and after a lot of work it is finally done. The video opens with the water sequence and has Squirtle illustrate the element, this is followed by Sandshrew for Earth, Charmander for Fire, and Pidgey for Wind. These are fantastic representations of the elements as they are typically the early base Pokemon that players use for these elements. Many fans are appreciating and sharing the artistic talent that is on display, as well as the thoughtful Pokemon choice that features in this reworkedAvatar: The Last Airbendersequence.
