With the death of Batman/Bruce Wayne, Gotham City enters deeper into lawlessness. The game ofGotham Knightsisn’t just about cool costumed vigilantes fighting through Gotham City’s worst to protect the innocent. It’s also about individual characters, their stories, and how they mourn the loss of a mentor, a father, and a friend.
Not only will players encounter personal stories inGotham Knights, but they will be faced with some of the worst and deadliest villains from Batman’s Rogues Gallery. There are some truly villainous side quests inGotham Knights, as well as some nice and touching ones that tug at the hearts of players, and further bind them to Nightwing, Robin,Batgirl, and Red Hood.
8Clayface
When the Knights encounter faceless muggers causing carnage among the people of Gotham, it doesn’t take long for the group of detectives to figure out that this is none other than the work of Basil Karlo, also known as his villain alias of Clayface.Clayface has been presumed deadfor over a year after his fight with Batman, but with this side quest, players get to see what Clayface has been doing since.

The side mission sees players collecting clay samples, and then following a trail to find Clayface. It’s a classic Batman mystery, with a classic Batman villain. It’s a lot of fun, which concludes with a great boss fight. It’s best to assemble the best Bat Family members for this.
7Nightwing’s Personal Story
Throughout Gotham City, players can discover the humans beneath the masks, and how they handle the death of Batman. For Nightwing, the story is very personal and delves into his relationship with other Bat Family members, the added weight he has as Bruce’s first son, and the expectations of becoming the new Batman.
By completing this side activity, players will unlock the “Tribute Grayson” color scheme for all four characters. Not only is the color scheme a nice reward, but learning deeper into the history and future of Dick Grayson is a great personal story.
6Mr. Freeze
Prepare for a cold night ahead, as theMr. Freeze side questis rather lengthy but entirely worth it. The side quest begins after suspicious activity can be found at S.T.A.R. Labs, which needs to be investigated. Things get chilly from here on out, and it is up to the heroes of Gotham to figure out what Freeze wants, and how tolure him outof hiding.
Mister Freeze allies himself with the Regulators, and their combined and cold efforts, have them testing new equipment on innocent Gotham City civilians. Cryogenic abilities are no joke, and it’s best for the Knights of Gotham to take them and fast.
5Robin’s Personal Story
Tim Drake has a lot of baggage as Robin. He comes after Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, two characters that have since forged their legacy past the mantle of Robin. Tim Drake was the latest Robin before Batman died, leaving him without a mentor, and grieving alongside his vigilante allies.

His story is personal to himself and Alfred, whom both grieve in their intelligent way with a game of chess. After completing all ofRobin’s side activities, players will acquire the “Tribute Drake” color scheme for Nightwing, Robin, Red Hood, and Batgirl.
4Harley Quinn
For a while, it seemed that Harley Quinn was doing well for herself as a prisoner in Blackgate. She had plenty of items she needed to reform, as well as a working relationship with Batman. That was, until his death. Once Harley received confirmation that the Bat is truly dead, she decided that she didn’t need to be an anti-hero,but a villain, free from the Joker and of her own accord.
The side quest is a great way to feature a different depiction of Harley Quinn, and how nothing is holding her back from doing what she wants. Harley Quinn is fierce, aggressive, and as cunning as ever, recruiting an army of civilians to join her maniacal crusade.
3Red Hood’s Personal Story
Jason Todd has led a traumatic life. After being murdered by the Joker, and replaced as Robin, his resurrection left his mind scattered and scarred. Whenever he sees the faces of his allies, all he thinks is how they know the strangeness surrounding his second life. This side quest follows that path, as Jason comes to terms with his death, and helps his friends mourn Bruce, as Bruce mourned him.
Once players finish Red Hood’s side activity, they will unlock the “Tribute Todd” color scheme for all Knights. However, this is not the best part of the quest. The best part of Jason Todd’s story is how intimate it is, and how players will feel sorry for the character.
2Secret Identity Compromised
In Batman’s death, Bruce Wayne also died. To protect the identity of Batman, the Knights of Gotham will need to erase a bunch of files from different servers. There are a few locations that are rather difficult to traverse as players will fight to keep Batman’s identity a secret. It’s a great mission that shows just how far Robin, Batgirl, Red Hood, and Nightwing will go to protect Batman, even in his death.

Not only is this mission a great look into the motives of the costumed heroes, but it’s also pretty funny. There’s a great reward for the eyes that involve Bruce Wayne and his dancing abilities, a piece of footage that replaces what could have been a big reveal for the world.
1Batgirl’s Personal Story
As playersexplore Gotham Cityand lean more into Barbara Gordon’s psyche, they will develop an understanding of her character, and what it means to her to be Batgirl. Her side story is important to the game, and it’s extremely personal considering her paralyzing injury from the Joker, how she recovered from that, and where she goes from there.
She has both the weight of legacy from Batman andcommissioner James Gordonon her shoulders, making it harder for her to stand proud, but it just further proves how strong she is when she does. Players are rewarded with the “Tribute Gordon” color scheme for all playable costumed vigilantes after the completion of Batgirl’s side activity.
Gotham Knightsis available now on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
