The critically-acclaimedBatman: Arkhamtrilogy is finally coming to the Nintendo Switch this fall. Developer Rocksteady famously broke the long-standing stigma surrounding licensedBatmanvideo games with theBatman: Arkhamseries, which earned high praise from critics and players alike for its blistering stealth and combat gameplay, dark and twisted plot that spoke to the central themes of DC’s fabled Dark Knight, and stellar voice acting from franchise mainstays like Mark Hamill as the sinister Joker andthe late Kevin Conroy as Batman himself.
The saga began in 2009’s surprise hitBatman: Arkham Asylum, which trapped players inside the titular mental health facility as Batman chased after the Joker and a host of other foes in a night full of diabolical twists and turns. Then came 2010’s equally impactfulBatman: Arkham City, which retainedtheArkhamgameplay formulawhile switching the setting to a prison city filled with various criminals and supervillains for players to hunt down. Finally, 2015’sBatman: Arkham Knightfinished the trilogy by allowing players to step behind the wheel of the Batmobile for tank-like vehicular battles and speedy chases through Gotham’s rain-soaked streets.
