Fans are finally going to see the release of one of the most anticipated titles on the Nintendo Switch this year, PlatinumGames’Bayonetta 3. While this game was first announced in 2017, gameplay trailers didn’t start appearing until late last year, giving an insight into how the series has changed since the second entry. The latest trailer dropped earlier this month, not only providing fans with more information on the game, but also therelease date forBayonetta 3.

This trailer shows offBayonetta 3’s new setting, enemies, characters, and gameplay features, such as Bayonetta’s demonic masquerade transformations. It also showed off returning characters such as Jeanne, Rodin, Enzo, and Luka. A new witch known as Viola was also confirmed to be a playable character, where she uses a katana like Raiden fromMetal Gear Risingwhile also platforming around using a grappling hook. With the game only a little over three months away, Nintendo has revealed the game’s file size, giving fans an idea of how much space they’ll need.

As seen on Nintendo’s website and the Switch eShop,Bayonetta 3will take up 15 GB of space digitally. This is just as big or larger than some of Nintendo’s first-party titles likeThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the WildandSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate, which are approximately 13.4 GB and 16 GB in size respectively. The fact that the game is bigger thanBreath of the Wildis also surprising considering thatBotWis an open-world adventure, whileBayonettagames are usually more linear, though it’s likely the assets of the game that could contribute to how big it is.

This isn’t the biggest game on the Nintendo Switch, with third-party games likeGrand Theft Auto: The Trilogy’s file size taking up 25 GB, for example. In comparison to the otherBayonettagames released on the Switch, the first game takes up 8.6 GB of space. The second game on the other hand takes up 12.4 GB of space, so the progression up to 15 GB makes it seem like the game is escalating a bit, even in assets.

There will also be a physical collector’s edition forBayonetta 3, known as the “Trinity Masquerade Edition,” which will include a special sleeve artwork for the Switch boxes of the threeBayonettagames along with a special 200-page artbook. To top things off, thefirstBayonettagamewill also be getting a physical release after being digital only for Nintendo Switch. This physical releasw will launch on September 30.

Bayonetta 3will release exclusively for Nintendo Switch on July 11, 2025.
