While speaking about his experience playing Batman on the podcastSmartLess, Affleck revealed that Gadot’s Wonder Woman won’t just appear in the movie - she’ll have a pretty important role. Affleck discussed the moment he felthe finally figured out how to play Batmanwhen he stumbled into spoilingThe Flash. “I mean, I don’t wanna give a spoiler,” Affleck said, “but it was a scene where I get caught, I get saved by Wonder Woman during a conflagration with some bad guys. And she saves me by– I mean, I’m sure the spoiler, DC assassins are gonna get me, but…” He also discussed how Wonder Woman saves him, saying, “She saves me with the Lasso of Truth. Her appearance inThe Flashwill markGadot’s second Wonder Woman cameo this year. At the end ofShazam! Fury of the Gods, Gadot raises Billy Batson from the dead and then shoots down his attempt at flirtation before leaving to embark on another adventure. At this point, Wonder Woman’s cameos will almost outnumber the movies she’s starred in. Gadot first appeared as Wonder Woman in Zack Snyder’sBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and while her role was a little more involved than just a quick cameo, she didn’t star in the movie.Wonder WomanandWonder Woman: 1984feature Gadot in the starring role, as doesJustice League. With her roles inShazam! Fury of the GodsandThe Flashbeing closer to that ofBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, she’s now appeared in the same amount of DC movies in a leading role as she has in a supporting role.
Wonder Woman’s continued presence in DC movies begs the question:does Wonder Woman have a future in the DCU? After the thirdWonder Womanmovie was abandoned, the Amazonian’s future in the franchise became unclear. Despite that, she’s been a consistent presence in recent DC movies, and her character has not faced discussions concerning recasting like Affleck’s Batman or Henry Cavill’s Superman. Whether these cameos are Wonder Woman’s last gasping breaths or the foundation for her next story in the DCU, they have certainly been welcome surprises for fans worried they’d seen the last of Gadot.
The Flashpremieres in theaters on Jul 30, 2025.
