XDefiantoffers plenty of different Preset options when it comes time to pick a Loadout for a match. These are great for players just starting out, as they each offer attachments and devices not yet unlocked. Sometimes having the right device can be well worth trying out an unfamiliar primary weapon.
Every Preset Loadout in the game will come with the M9 sidearm with various configurations.These sidearmsare to be used whenever an enemy is close by and the player is in the middle of reloading, or in the event the player runs out of ammo for their primary weapon.
6Occupy
Equal Parts Defense & Mobility
Occupyshares some of the same elements as two other game modes, namely Zone Control and Domination. The key element of Occupy will have players moving to the marked capture point and then holding it down to rack up points for their team. Holding down this point is imperative to victory, and the better players can keep enemies off the point, the better. While the Shotgun falls flat in game modes where enemies will be at quite a distance most of the time, enemy players will all be flocking towards a specific point on the map for this game mode. Making it perfect for theShotgun Preset.
This Loadout gives players theM870, which can fire more frequently than the Double Barrel shotgun. With this Shotgun, Players can also stop reloading shells to fire the gun while it is not at full ammo — perfect when an enemy is coming from around the corner. This Loadout also hasSticky Grenadesthat can be thrown at a point that is controlled by enemy team members. If a point seems impossible to get, players should not worry, as it will move after a set time, and then they can get the jump on enemies as they abandon it. This is the perfect game mode tounlock the other shotguns in challenges.
5Escort (Defending)
The key to victory inEscortis payload control. Every second that the payload is moving, the faster it can get to the end of the map — or at the very least, pushed as far as possible. The best preset available for players wanting to slow down the attacking team will be theLMG Preset. This will give players access toProximity Minesto serve as traps for the attacking team as they move around corners with the payload. An LMG can take time to get used to, so players might want tocheck out the practice rangeto be aware of just how long it takes to reload.
TheM249also has a massive well of bullets to spray at the payload, making it easier to hit enemies that are grounded together as they push.The Echelon factioncan use theirDigital Ghillie Suitto help conceal themselves while they reload, as this ability’s duration is slightly longer than the time it takes to reload.
4Escort (Attacking)
Escortwill flip the attackers and defenders for the second part of the game mode, and those Proximity Mines will not be as useful anymore. While having a sniper can help take out enemies who are suppressing payload progression, attacking players will want to push that payload constantly in order to win. Both theAssault Presetand theMarksman Presetwill provide players with a great mid-range game, as well asFrag Grenades.
Frag Grenades can make enemies flee from the targeted area, allowing players to push the payload unopposed. The Assault Preset offers theM4A1Assault Rifle, while the Marksman Preset will have theMK 20 SSR. Both of these will allow players to push that payload while being able to attack using it as cover.The Phantom factionallows players to use one of two shield-based abilities if they find themselves needing to rush up to the payload safely.
3Zone Control
Offensive
This game mode uses elements of both Escort and Occupy. Instead of players needing to push a payload, they will need to capture a series of points — then attacks and defenders swap roles. TheAssault Presetshines in this game mode, as it will give players the ability to attack from mid-range to get onto the point, fight up close on the point, and defend the point from those trying to get back onto it. Players will also be able to use it tounlock the other Assault Riflesin the game.
As stated earlier, this Loadout comes with theM4A1andFrag Grenades. Players will be able to fight their way to where they need to be and defend it. Phantoms are a great choice of faction to use with this Loadout for their Mag Barreirs, butplaying as Libertadwill allow players to keep all of their teammates' health in check while they hunker down on the point.
2Domination
Rushing Down & Taking Points
Similar to Occupy, players will need to capture set locations to gain points for their teams. However, forDomination, these locations never move, and there will be 3 of them at all times. Mobility will be key, and players will need to be able to move rapidly between captured and lost points to control as many as they can to reach victory before the other team.
The best Preset Loadout for this will be theSMG Preset. This allows players to have a great deal of mobility over other presets with itsMP5A2with Lightweight Barrel, but it also gives them a weapon that will shine while up close with enemies on the point. This Loadout also comes with aFlashbang Grenadethat players can throw onto a point that already has enemies before they swoop in and start clearing it.
1Hot Shot
Never Stop Moving
A lot will be happening in Hot Shot, so it is important tokeep some tips in mind. Players will need to take out enemies on the map and pick up a dropped token to gain points. If an opposing team player gets the token before them, then they will not gain any points. The first player to get three enemy tokens will become the “Hot Shot” and receive an increase to both their movement speed and damage output.
If the Hot Shot is killed, they will drop three tokens. TheSMG Presetis outstanding compared to the others for this game mode. Players will have a lot of Mobility for rushing down other players, and for quick escapes — they will also haveFlashbang Grenadesso their targets cannot fight back.
