Bethesda provided a disappointing response to rumors thatStarfieldcould be released soon. The company has confirmed thatStarfieldwill be released beforeThe Elder Scrolls 6but it has not confirmed when that will be.
On Twitter, Bethesda’s senior vice president of marketing and communications, Pete Hines, responded to questions aboutStarfieldbeing rated. Skullzi, a YouTuber who has made many videos about Bethesda games, posted a screenshot from theStarfieldsite that showed that the game had been given a rating from the German rating board, USK. Games that have been given a USK rating have to be completed, said the YouTuber, which suggested thatStarfielddevelopment had been completed. Many games have beenleaked because of their ratingsand fans wondered if that was what was happening here.

However, Hines was quick to shoot this down. Hines, who wasn’t aware of the technical issue that made the USK rating appear on theStarfieldsite, said that he would ask the team to “look into it and get it fixed.” Hines also thanked the fans for telling him about the issue.
Starfield’s incorrect USK rating is a slightly different issue to the one reported earlier in the month when Skullzi discovered that theStarfieldsite was showing rating placeholders. While there was no suggestion thatStarfieldhad been sent to rating boards for certification, many fans were excited at the idea that Bethesda had made some sort of change to the game’s site. It was possible that adding the rating placeholder images were part of a larger marketing plan and preceded some sort of announcement about the game.
It is now unclear when fans may get to hear something new aboutStarfield. Game Director Todd Howard has confirmed thatStarfieldwill be a next-gen game, and as the PS5 and Xbox Series X have been confirmed for a holiday 2020 release, it is possible that more information about the game will come with more information about the consoles. There are several confirmed Xbox Series X events and one rumored PS5 reveal event which Bethesda could bringStarfieldto, if that is the plan.
However, it’s just as possible that Bethesda isn’t planning to share anything about the game soon, asBethesda isn’t holding a digital eventin lieu of E3, disappointing many fans. This would allow the team to only think about development and not on making trailers and demos, but it wouldn’t be giving fans the information that they’ve asked for.
