From 2015 to 2022, Bob Odenkirk and Rhea Seehorn’s chemistry together played a vital role inBetter Call Saulturning into the legendary show it became. At the 2022 Primetime Emmy Awards, Odenkirk took to social media to express his appreciation for his co-star for everything she did for him.
During the 2022 Emmys,Better Call Saulfell short when it came to scoring big wins for the night. Nonetheless, Odenkirk reflected on the time he spent with Seehorn onBetter Call Saulfor the past eight yearswhile praising her for being one of the very best to work with in show business.

“The last eight years, I’ve had the honor of working with the very best onstage and off,” Odenkirk said of Seehorn. “Far, far more than I deserved. Rhea, thanks for holding my head off the concrete floor.” Both Odenkirk and Seehorn were nominated for Emmys, but neither ended up winning in the categories they were nominated for. While Odenkirk received an Emmy nomination for every single season ofBetter Call Saul, Seehorn received her first forher work as Kim Wexlerin the final season.Better Call Saul’s predecessor won Emmys for the performances of its actors, and the consensus is thatBetter Call Saulis every bit on the same plateau asBreaking Bad, which many fans attribute to the acting.
Coming intoBetter Call Saul, fans already had expectations for Odenkirk’s performance since they were more than familiar with his character inBreaking Bad. However, no one knew going inwhat to expect from Seehorn’s Kim Wexlersince, much like a lot of the actors in theBreaking Bad/Better Call Sauluniverse, Seehorn came from a mostly comedic background as an actor before playing Kim Wexler. Seehorn went from being Jimmy’s presumed long-lost love to his full-fledged partner-in-crime as the show continued Wexler’s arc, which turned her into arguably its best character. That would not have been possible without Seehorn’s superb acting.
Wexler’s arc was one of the primary reasons whyBetter Call Saulworked as well as it did as a prequel.Thanks toBreaking Bad, fans knew that one way or the other, Kim would be out of the picture. Even though they had somewhat of an idea of what was going to happen to her, the mystery of how she would be out of the picture made her story as captivating as it was. Many thought she would leave either because she died or because Jimmy’s transformation into Saul Goodman pushed her out. Amazingly, it was neither. Kim’s addiction to pulling off cons was what unintentionally led to Howard Hamlin’s tragic murder, which showed her how far she had fallen, thus meaning she had to leave before she got worse.
What made it all so believable was how well Seehorn portrayed both the thrill that Wexler would get from ripping off her victims along with Jimmy as well as her guilt that followed after the conshurt someone like Howard Hamlinor Chuck McGill. Even though she knew what she was doing a good amount of the time was wrong, she loved playing the game. What made her character arguably the entire show was that she crossed lines fans didn’t think she was capable of crossing. In essence, Kim Wexler was the Walter White ofBetter Call Saul, and that would not have been possible had it not been for Seehorn’s performance.
