There have been some undeniable steps in the right direction though. Although it’s possible the game only has a few months left of frequent updates, hopefully, Infinity Ward will continue to make the most of the time.

TheCall of Dutyseries has featured some form of end-of-match killcam for many years. In the early years, these focused on displaying the winning kill of every match, regardless of the quality of play. Eventually, it transitioned to a Play of the Game format, showcasing the best moment from the winning team. This Reddit thread by Tyranoreese highlights one of these moments, showing why it’s a much more exciting system. Right now,Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2has reverted to the final kill system, and the reasons are yet to be disclosed to players.
According to Tyranorees, the winning killcam in the current system “is underwhelming 99% of the time.” Another user in the thread took the opportunity to make a joke at Infinity Ward’s expense, claiming Play of the Game “was a good feature, so they need to take it out, Company policy.” Bizarrely, Infinity Ward hasremoved a few fan-favorite features inCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and it’s part of the reason the community is so frustrated with the game. Fans aren’t particularly shy about their desires for the series and want the developer to listen.
WithCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2set to be succeeded by the next installment in the next few months, it’s unlikely that Play of the Game will make a return. However, with Sledgehammer Games at the helm for therumoredCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, hope remains that the developer can take a different approach and bring back the fan-favorite feature.
