Call of Duty: Warzonecontinues to be robustly supported, despite the controversies that have set back the battle royale over the past year. Yet focus continues to slowly shift toward what’s coming next.Call of Duty: Warzone 2will give Activision the opportunity to reboot its battle royale plans, taking feedback from both Blackout and the firstWarzoneto create a next-gen experience. Now early details regardingWarzone 2are beginning to leak, with several key new features and changes revealed.

The leaks originate from YouTuber NerosCinema, but have since been corroborated by eXputer’s Tom Henderson. Several major changes are tentatively in the works forWarzone 2. The largest of which is tied tohow Loadouts work in the battle royale. Loadouts won’t be going away inWarzone 2, but will instead require some work to unlock. Players won’t start the game with their Loadout, but will instead have a mission to complete in order to earn it.

Loadout missions will guideWarzone 2players to a new addition to the battle royale named Strongholds.Strongholdsare guarded by AI, but will also become focuses for PvP battles as players fight to unlock their Loadouts. Players will loot enough that they feel confident in attacking a Stronghold, take over the Stronghold while potentially fighting early-game firefights, earn their Loadouts and progress into mid-to-late game. It’s an interesting new feature seemingly designed to maintain gameplay momentum.

Completing Stronghold missions will also apparently grant access to other importantWarzone 2content, too. For example,Pro Perkswill be returning and can be looted. Pro Perks are improved versions of existing Perks and have been featured in pastCall of Dutygames. Also found in Strongholds will be Killstreaks and other valuable gear.

Speaking of valuable gear, another major change inWarzone 2is claimed to be the return of armor vests. Higher tier vests will allow players to use more armor plates, with three tiers available to find.Armor plateswill still need to be replenished, like inWarzone.

One last leaked exciting new feature is the reported introduction of aTetris-style inventory. Players will be able to equip bags of different rarities. Each bag has a certain amount of inventory slots in it.Warzone 2players will have to arrange their loot within these bags, which could limit their overall power in creative ways.

Obviously, none of these claimedCall of Duty: Warzone 2features have been officially confirmed at this point in time. They’re simply leaked possibilities at this point in time. It’s possible that they’re untrue or that they’ll be changed or removed by the timeWarzone 2is officially launched. Regardless, they’re intriguing ideas and indicateWarzone 2will be a departure fromWarzonein exciting new ways. Expect to hear 2in the months to come.
