Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2is set to bring several fan-favorite characters back to the franchise. Characters like Captain Price, “Soap” MacTavish, and Simon “Ghost” Riley are all set to return in the sequel to 2019’sCall of Duty: Modern Warfare.It is inevitable that some of these beloved characters have changed since the events of the previous game, especiallyCaptain Price who has been a part of the series since the originalCall of Dutyin 2003. This new entry in theModern Warfarebranch ofCall of Dutyis also set to bring new characters to the series, and one of the biggest will be Alejandro Vargas. While much about Vargas' role in the story remains a mystery, developer Infinity Ward has released a new video that details some information about this fresh face and the entire process to create him.

While a lot of information has been leaked regarding the multiplayer ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, such as theleak of a map called Farm 18 that will be available in the betathat is releasing on September 16, not much has been revealed about the campaign of the game, other than it will take place in 2022 and continue the story of Task Force 141, with new character Vargas joining as its latest recruit. While Infinity Ward has been relatively quiet regarding story details, it has now released some new information about Vargas and also detailed the character creation process that the studio uses when conceptualizing characters.

In a video created on TikTok and then posted to Twitter by the official Infinity Ward account, the developers detail snippets of Vargas and also discuss how he was created. Head Writer ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Brian Bloom, confirmed they spoke with Mexican military to make the character as believable as possible. The actor who plays Vargas, Alain Mesa, describes the character as someone he believes “has fought many battles in many lifetimes.”

The video also detailed a six-step process for Infinity Ward when it creates characters for games. WhileModern Warfare 2’smultiplayer contenthas been potentially leaked, Infinity Ward still holds the specifics about Vargas and the game’s story close to the chest in this video.

The video is short and isn’t detailed regarding Vargas' role in the story. While mostCall of Dutyfans seem to be focused onModern Warfare 2’s multiplayer, it’s clear Infinity Ward wants to incorporate memorable characters into the campaign. But how Vargas will compare with towering fan-favorite figures like Captain Price and “Soap” remains to be seen.
