A pro player has highlighted a handy trick for avoiding lobbies where known cheaters are present inCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The rollout of Ranked mode inModern Warfare 2has created what some gamers claim is an endemic cheating problem, and this handy tip might be the most potent counter available for legitimate players. With the release of Season 2 ofModern Warfare 2on February 15, players received what most felt was a much-needed injection of multiplayer content into the game. While the new map and modes had a lukewarm reception, players were revitalized by theintroduction of a Ranked mode withinModern Warfare 2. With competitive settings, a fully-fledged ELO and division system, and a dedicated map pool, gamers who had moved on fromModern Warfare 2found themselves coming back to test their mettle in the new Ranked mode, however, along with returning players was a wave of hackers eager to cheat their way to rank 50.RELATED:Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Map Has Obvious Flaw Fans Can’t UnseeModern Warfare 2pro playerGabriel Hamshaw, known by his handle, Aroma, shared their best tip for avoiding lobbies where known hackers are present. As soon as a Ranked lobby fills up, if a player notices a hacker, they can go to the channels menu, click on the lobby channel, find the settings menu for that channel, and finally hit leave lobby. This is a punishment-free way to leave a ranked game before it begins, dodging both a figurative bullet, as well as many ESP-assisted literal ones. The trick is far from foolproof, as it requires the key information of knowing a hacker’s in-game name. There is also some speculation that the trick only works when a lobby is full, meaning there is a small window of time before the game starts where a player can evade a known hacker.

While Activision is hard at work onSeason 2 Reloaded forModern Warfare 2, which drops on March 15, many players remain critical of the developer’s lack of attention to its multiplayer modes and are pessimistic that the hacking issue, which some feel is bordering on endemic, is not receiving the high priority that it deserves. While Activision’s RICOCHET anti-cheat is considered by most to be a competent hack-detection software, it seems it is far from perfect, and only time will tell if Activision will devote the proper resources to ridding its lobbies of cheaters.

Many gamers are encouraged by the addition ofRanked inModern Warfare 2, which they feel has the potential to be truly special. Whether it gains massive appeal appears to hinge on if its biggest hurdle, rampant hacking, will be dealt with in a prompt and efficient manner.
