Call of Duty: Vanguardfans were told about ranked mode being in development several weeks ago, though a release date for the feature was given. WhileCall of Duty: Vanguardplayers still do not have an exact date for the mode, a leaker has provided a release window, highlighting what League Play could be like in the process.
Call of Duty: Vanguard’s League Playwill he developed by both Sledgehammer and Treyarch, which is good news given the latter’s past work. Considering that Treyarch was responsible for the League Play system inCall of Duty: Black Ops 2, which is widely considered as the best in the franchise, expectations are high for the series’ latest competitive offering. Intriguingly, though, it sounds likeCall of Duty: Vanguard’s League Play could be taking inspiration from another franchise.

According to well-known leaker @TheGhostOfHope, League Play will be releasing “in the next few weeks.” Though they obviously cannot reveal their source, the fact that the update is recent givesCall of Dutyfans a reason to be excited. WithSeason 1at about the midway point, a Season 2 launch for League Play would certainly make sense, as Sledgehammer could advertise it in the roadmap and make a big deal about its arrival. This is purely speculation, however, as the mode could arrive before or after the second season debuts.
As for the ranked modeCall of Duty: Vanguardis pulling from, a follow-up Tweet from @TheGhostOfHope gives fans another reason to be optimistic. The new version of League Play will supposedly pull from 2017’sCall of Duty: WW2, which is good news considering how well received that mode was. Usually placed on a pedestal right next to the League Play from thefan favoriteCall of Duty: Black Ops 2, many are now more excited than ever aboutCall of Duty: Vanguard’s competitive format.
While @TheGhostOfHope does not specify what features will be taken fromCall of Duty: WW2’s ranked mode, players are speculating about what could be included. Exclusive rewards of some kind are likely, withCalling Cardsbeing the bear minimum. Skill ratings and divisions are also a possibility, as are the leaderboards included inCall of Duty: WW2’s competitive play. For now, all fans can do is speculate, as they will likely need to wait a bit longer for some official details to surface.
While Sledgehammer Games has been busy dealing withCall of Duty: Vanguardissues like brokenIncendiary Grenadesand random bugs, it is nice to know that League Play development has not slowed down too drastically. Hopefully, these leaks prove true, with the competitive mode arriving soon and giving the game’s community exactly what it wants.
