Or, at least,Call of Duty: Vanguardplayers would capitalize if double XP wasn’t broken.
In what’s become a grand mystery,Call of Duty: Vanguardplayersare reporting that they’re not receiving double weapon XP this weekend despite the promise fromCall of Duty’s developers. Theories surrounding the cause ofCall of Duty: Vanguard’sdouble weapon XPissue are scattered and lacking confidence. Some believe thatCall of Duty: Vanguardisn’t able to track weapon experience correctly when players have high-kill games, so what’s happening is a vocal minority of hardcore players have something to complain about while the majority of players don’t notice.
Another, more malevolent theory, is thatCall of Duty: Vanguardis capping weapon experiencegain during multiplayer matches through unclear means. In other words, players aren’t getting a specific amount of weapon XP per elimination like they’re supposed to. Instead, they’re getting a capped amount to ensure they don’t get XP too fast. This theory seems to be driven by frustration, however, as there is no evidence indicating that the developers would do this.Call of Dutyhas always encouraged fast leveling, particularly during double XP weekends.
What’s most likely the case is that something changed inCall of Duty: Vanguard’s XP systemcompared to previous games that’s causing a technical issue. It’s assuredly unintentional and just needs to be fixed. That likely isn’t going to happen in time to impact this weekend’s double XP, however, as it will be ending soon.
The lack of public comment on the matter from Activision orCall of Duty: Vanguarddeveloper Sledgehammer Games is likely contributing to the wild speculation. Developers atActivisionare, however, dealing with a lot right now. It’s also the weekend. Hopefully, by the time the next double XP weekend rolls around, this will all be a distant memory.
Call of Duty: Vanguardis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
