Raven Software decided to kick off the weekend by announcing an exclusive new playlist for the newCall of Duty: Warzonemap Fortune’s Keep. This new Resurgence map was released at thestart ofCall of Duty: Warzone’s Season 4and is normally only used for games with a smaller player count. The Resurgence game mode is designed to be a faster-paced version of the normalCall of Duty: WarzoneBattle Royale gameplay. With a maximum player count of 40 players, a smaller map, and a squad respawn replacing the gulag system, Resurgence matches often last about 15 minutes instead of the usual 30.Related:Call of Duty: Warzone Fans Frustrated With Season 4 TTKIn a switch up tothe usual Resurgence gameplay, the official Raven Software Twitter account announced a new 60-player playlist. The playlist went live on Friday morning and was confirmed to be limited to this weekend only. This most likely means the mode will be gone by Monday, so interested players need to get in as soon as possible.
With the small map size, increasing the player count to 60 will no doubt result in the already chaotic Resurgence matches turning into an even crazier slugfest. There are also a lot more indoor spaces than on the previous Resurgence map, Rebirth Island, so it seems likely that weapons suited to close quarters, like the Marco 5 SMG, will shine in Fortune’s Keep Extreme.
Fortune’s Keep was released on June 22along with the start of Season 4, so it’s been out for over three weeks, giving players plenty of time to learn the ins and outs of the island. For people who play a lot, things could be getting stale, so this should be a fun way to shake things up a bit and give veteranWarzoneplayers something fresh to dig into.
Of course, not everyone will be happy with the higher player count and more chaotic gameplay. There have also beensome game-breaking bugs on Fortune’s Keep, like players getting stuck in terrain or glitching underneath the map, as well as performance issues resulting in lag for some players. More than a few people on the original Twitter thread have made it very clear that they think Raven Software should be addressing the gameplay issues instead of releasing new playlists. Everyone has their own opinions and tastes though, and some Twitter users have been just as vocal about how much they like the increased player count.
Call of Duty: Warzoneis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
