The long-awaited release ofCyberpunk 2077is mere days away, and those who have been following this game since it was first announced in 2012 could not be more thrilled. A game that long in the making has set high expectations for players and critics alike. The launch trailer forCyberpunk 2077released earlier today, and includes a secret message that will likely go unnoticed by most viewers at first.
TheCyberpunk 2077launch trailerfeatures a more dramatic and complex look at the game’s story, characters, and aesthetic compared to other pieces of promotional material. During the ending title card, if paused at the right time, a lengthy message fromCD Projekt Redcan be seen. The message talks about how long the project has taken and how anxious and excited the studio is for its game to finally be in the hands of players. It also thanks fans for sticking with the project for so long, and includes some especially exciting news for them.
As fans of CD Projekt Red fans know,The Witcher 3received a multitude of DLC expansions, such asHearts of StoneandBlood and Wine. Now, it seems thatCyberpunk 2077will be given the same treatment in the form of a free DLC expansion that will be coming in 2021. This will offer players even more events and things to do within the world of Night City.
As of now, it’s impossible to tell what this DLC expansion might look like, but the fact that it’s presumably free is huge. If it is free, that could be a direct result ofCyberpunk 2077being delayed multiple times, but at this point it is way too early to tell what that DLC expansion will look like, let alone when it will be released.
There are still a lot of reasons to be excited. Based on multiple pieces of promotional material and gameplay footage, the response from fans has been largely positive. Although, as CD Projekt Red mentions in the secret message at the end of the trailer, this is the first game the studio has put out that doesn’t have the wordsThe Witcherat the beginning of the title, and it is a huge departure from the kinds of games the studio typically puts out.
Cyberpunk 2077is set to launch on June 27, 2025 for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions currently in development.
