TheCyberpunk 2077Night City Wire broadcast was first announcedearlier this month and the popular assumption is that some kind of DLC news will be announced during the stream. Whether these assumptions prove to be correct, however, remains to be seen.The development history behindCyberpunk 2077is a long and involved one. The first teaser trailer for the game was released all the way back in early 2013 before the game was finally released in late 2020 to a mountain of controversy regarding its performance issues. During an earnings call, however, the company revealed that the marketing for the DLC for the game would happen at some point during the second half of the year. While this doesn’t confirm anything, it does make it more likely that an announcement will happen during the stream.
WhenCyberpunk 2077was released in 2020 it was savaged by critics for its technical performance. As mentioned above, this led the company to indefinitely delay its plans for any and all DLC as it worked to fix the game’s various technical issues. As of this writing, a 1.6 Patch is currently in the works and could possibly be released alongside the planned DLC. However,story details forCyberpunk 2077’s DLCwere leaked earlier this year, cutting out some surprises for the long-delayed content.
In addition to theCyberpunk 2077content, CD Projekt Red is also working on a newWitchergame. TheWitcherfranchise did extremely well for the company and saw an extra boost in sales following the release of theWitcherNetflix series, which saw the company’s stock hit new heights. FollowingCyberpunk 2077’s release, however,CD Projekt Red’s stock has fallen by over 75%. The stock prices peaked at $31 a share in late 2020 and currently sell at $4.19 a share. Whether a new DLC announcement for the latest game will help the company bounce back remains to be seen.
