Electronic Arts capped off its EA Play Live 2021 event with the reveal of the long-rumoredDead Spaceremake, which is being developed byStar Wars: Squadronsstudio EA Motive. TheDead Spaceremake will bring the classic sci-fi survival-horror game to modern audiences, serving as both a remake and a reboot of the franchise. So while fans should be able to expect an experience that’s faithful to the originalDead Space, there’s definitely going to be some changes here and there.

One big change thatDead Spacefans can look forward to in the remake is the complete lack of loading screens. Thanks to the SSDs in the PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles, theDead Spaceremake will have zero loading screens, which should allow for increased immersion. This is one of the advantages of theDead Spaceremake being a next-gen only game, as it will be able to take full advantage of the new consoles.

There will be other changes in theDead Spaceremake as well. While specifics aren’t available at this time, it’s been suggested that thezero-gravity sections fromDead Space 2will make an appearance in the remake. TheDead Spaceremake will also have some story tweaks so that plot points introduced later in the series appear a bit earlier in the narrative.

TheDead Spaceremake will be taking the zero-gravity fromDead Space 2, but it’s also learning from its sequels in other ways. As some may recall,Dead Space 3controversially had microtransactions, a decision that was met with widespread criticism at the time of its original release. It’s already been confirmed that theDead Spaceremake will not have microtransactions, so fans don’t have to worry about them worming their way into the game.

Everything that’s been revealed about the game since theDead Spaceremake teaser trailershould sound good to fans, and hopefully they don’t have to wait too long to see more of the game. As it stands, noDead Spaceremake gameplay has been revealed so far, and the game’s release date is nowhere in sight. It being a next-gen only game does suggest that fans will have to wait atleasta couple of years before they’ll get the chance to play it.

While some fans may be frustrated by the long wait they have ahead of them, otherDead Spaceenthusiasts are likely happy that anewDead Spacegameis coming at all. Here’s hoping it lives up to the high bar set by the original game.
