So far, manyDestiny 2players have regarded the current Season of the Worthy a dud in terms of content. Trials of Osiris provided an end game spark for a few weeks but has since been on a decline with fans overlackluster rewards and constant bugs. On the PvE side, the only new content is basically a public event on three different locations, running the same lost sectors with stronger enemies, and another resource donation upgrade loop like the Obelisks from the previous season. However, this week’s reset may have been a bit different as fans finally got some interesting story related content.
Rasputin’s bunker finally appeared on Jupiter’s moon Io this week inDestiny 2. Typically, the first time through the bunker, players would need to battle their way to the final room where they’d then be given a small dose of story content from Ana Bray. Io was a bit different this week however as the bunker was completely clear of enemies.

Instead, Commander Zavala stood waiting for the player, triggering an in-game scene between him and Rasputin. A holographic map of the Solar System appears and alarmingly shows multiple huge pyramid ships entering the orbit of Pluto. Rasputin also reveals, through Zavala’s Ghost, his past failure at protecting humanity during the collapse. This reveal seems to haveturned Zavala’s opinion of the Warmind, allowing the two to settle their differences and agree to work side by side as equals instead of trying to use each other as weapons. The two also seemed to bond over their past failures, vowing towork together to prevent any more catastrophes.
While some fans were a bit surprised on how fast Zavala’s opinion of Rasputin was able to change, most agree that this moment was pretty cool and definitely needed. Players have been hoping that Bungie would return to the evolving world and narrative that was showcased duringSeason of the Undying with the Vex Gateand this seems like it’s starting to head in that direction. The wall in the various bunkers has changed based on the approaching Darkness ships as everything beyond Saturn is now blacked out completely and two red pyramid ships now flashing. It’s highly likely that these maps will continue to update throughout the season as the Darkness finally closes in on the world.
There’s still a large amount of the season left to go which likely indicates that this won’t be the final piece of storytelling left for players to discover. With the threat of the Almighty still present as well as the now sudden approach of the Darkness, Bungie appears to have a few more tricks up its sleeve. In fact, a recent datamine may have uncovered a bit of content still yet to come, thanks to a Warmind faction bar that’s present inside of the Destiny Tracker app as well as a potential surprise return of somethingDestinyfans have not seensince the Rise of Iron expansion.
Destiny 2is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
