Destiny 2players finally got to experience the long-promised climax ofSeason of the Worthy. At daily reset, Guardians were invited to the Tower to watch the fate of The Almighty unfold in real-time.
Lately,Destiny 2has been keen on creating “you had to be there" moments, and this live event certainly counts as one of them, though Bungie will addressDestiny 2FOMOlater on. Players who logged in during the show could watch a major story event evolve not in a cutscene, but in real-time, creating an experience new toDestiny.

The Almighty had been getting closer to hitting Earth for months now, but the approaching ship only became visible in-game a couple of weeks ago. After this week’s reset,The Almighty was scarily closeand players were speculating about when exactly the threat would be resolved.The Bungie Twitter page notified playersto keep an eye on The Almighty on Saturday as Rasputin geared up to face it.
Shortly after reset, the Tower skybox started to update, depicting a volley of Warmind satellites unleashing fire on The Almighty from above. Soon, a second salvo started to encroach from the bottom. The satellites hit the ship, brute-forcing through its shields. Roughly one and a half hours after reset, the ship blew up in a blinding light and its core got flung towards the Tower.
It skimmed over players' heads and landed at the edge of the mountains to the north. The core detonated after crashing, deafening the players for a short time. Multiple smaller pieces impacted too, damaging the old Tower as well as creatingan impact zone next to Zavala, an area which was glitched into a while back. Players can now inspect this place to earn a free emblem. The faint leftovers of The Almighty are still in the sky, frozen in place. The aftermath can be seen below:
This was quite a unique experience even though it might have dragged out too long for some players. Not everyone has time to watch an affair like this. The length was most likely Bungie’s way of accounting for possible network issues and giving players a bit more time to log in and not miss the crescendo. Lars Bakken on Twitter also confirmed that inactivity timers were temporarily extended so that Guardians wouldn’t get kicked for simply standing still to watch the show.
All theSeraph Tower public event completionsled to this moment, officially closing out the story ofSeason of the Worthy. In a few short days, players will once again gather to watch a live event, this time revealing whatSeason of [REDACTED]has to offer.
