Bungie’s latest TWAB blog post may have revealed 2’sBeyond LightDLC than the studio intended it to.Possible Spoilers Ahead.
For anyone unaware, the post strongly hints that Uldren Sov will be making a return to thepresent-dayDestiny 2storyline. But it was actually just meant to show off howBeyond Lightwill reworkDestiny’s Triumph system.
It’s been about two years since Uldren had anything to do withDestiny 2’s story. The character died back duringDestiny 2’sForsakencampaign and later resurrected as a guardian in the game’sBlack ArmoryDLC. What became of him afterward remains unclear, but the post provides a strong idea of where Uldren ended up and how he’ll impactDestiny 2’s future.

The 15-07-2025 - TWAB blog post displayed an assortment ofnew emblemsthat each represent a Triumph destination or vendor. Eagle-eyed Reddit user Blamite noticed that one of the emblems looked strangely familiar. Uldren had it on a set of armor he wore back duringDestiny 1’s pre-alpha stages. During that time, Bungie originally planned for Uldren to be a character named Crow.
The player would find Crow out in the wilds ofDestiny’s Cosmodrome area. They end up in a standoff with him because he doesn’t trust guardians. In his words, the city is constantly “breathing down his neck,” and the wilds have taught him to shoot first and ask questions never. Of course, Crow does eventually come around, and the player works with him on various missions.
Upon being revived for the first time, guardians have their memories wiped and lose all sense of who their past selves were. This process applies to Uldren Sov as well. With this in mind, Bungie might be planning on retooling Uldren back into Crow, the original vision the studio had for the character before Activision presumably made it change him.
This, along with the previously released Amnestia-S2lore entry,makes it fairly easy to piece togetherUldren Sov’s story. After Uldren becomes a guardian, he takes the name Crow and travels to The City on Earth, where he’s promptly chased out into the wilds of the Cosmodrome and hunted over his murder of Hunter Vanguard Cayde-6.
By the rules of his resurrection, Uldren won’t remember this crime and will develop a distrust for guardians until the player comes along. From here, the story will revolve around the player coming to terms with the fact that Uldren and Crow are not one and the same. On Crow’s side, he’ll warm up to the player enough to become the Cosmodrome vender.
Of course, all of this is speculation. Bungie could take a completely different route with the character by the timeBeyond Lightreleases, but that doesn’t seem likely. Regardless, Uldren’s return seems like something Bungie would have wanted to save for aBeyond Lightstory trailer, and not a TWAB post.
