How to Start “Poetic License”
The Poetic License quest automatically becomes available after the player has finished the Forgotten’s previous quest, “Acts of Care.” The player’s shadowy doppelganger reveals a newfound passion for poetry as a means to cope withtheir pastand the events of the Forgetting.
How to Complete “Poetic License”
Upon meeting with the Forgotten, they share that they have taken up poetry as a helpful emotional outlet. The Forgotten has crafted three rhymes but struggles tofind the perfect closing lines. To assist, the player suggests seeking the wisdom of residents in the Valley who may have experienced similar and relatable circumstances.
Find The Right Villagers To Help
While Dreamlight Valley is full of characters who are more than willing to chat, the quest requires the player to seek and speak with three specific residents:
A handful of additional characters will have quest markers featuring the Dreamlight icon, but only the three listed above will provide the missing verses to the Forgotten’s poems.
Speak With Scar
Speaking with Scar unveils his disdain for Mufasa’s leadership. He boasts about how under his rule, every animal would grovel in his favor. In doing so, Scar inadvertently provides the final line to complete the first poem.
I once was the ruler of all I surveyed,
But now I’m cast out and I feel so afraid.
Nothing I do seems to make the world right,
I’ll take the darkness if I can’t have the light.
Speak With Mother Gothel
Mother Gothel is next on the list. When confronted about her fear of aging, she defensively denies it. However, her response is poetic enough to fill in the missing line of the second rhyme.
As I watched the clock tick and the sun rise and set,
But I’ve never been one to do what I’m told,
I’ll care for myself. Charm will never grow old!

Speak With Ursula (or “Vanessa”)
Lastly, the player should locate Ursula, either in her sea witch or “Vanessa” Dream Style form. She discusses her unfair exile by King Triton, which resonates with the Forgotten’s poem and provides the perfect final line.
It seems there’s no place I will ever belong,
And all of my words seem to come out all wrong.
But I’ll wait for an answer, I’ll wait for a sign,
And one day take back what is rightfully mine.
Setting The Stage
