New details have been revealed about an alternate ending toDragon Age: Inquisitionby its lead writer. Fans are currently waiting for any new bits of information aboutDragon Age: Dreadwolf, but it’s always interesting to hear details of scenes that never became reality in past games. It seems the Inquisitor could have been potentially caught in a tight spot in a playable post-credit scene inDragon Age: Inquisition.Dragon Age: Inquisitionwas released in 2014, enjoyed an overall positive reception from critics and was a success from the perspective of the number of copies sold. The third part in theDragon Ageseries also took home plenty of awards, among them becoming Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2014. The story introduced players to Solas, an apostate who became an expert of the Fade thanks to his countless journeys through the realm. But near the end of the game fans had to realize Solas played a much more threatening part in the story than they initially thought.Dragon Age: Inquisitionalso brought back Flemeth, a witch of the wilds, with whom players interacted in both previous games. Both of these characters had a pivotal role in the scrapped post-credits scene.RELATED:Freddie Prinze Jr. Says The Iron Bull from Dragon Age: Inquisition is His Favorite RoleDavid Gaider, who shepherded the franchise sinceDragon Age: Origins, recently posted on Twitter to show an interesting detail aboutthe ending ofDragon Age: Inquisition. “Going through my oldDAIfiles and came across the original plan for a playable post-credits Epilogue… which, due to time constraints, eventually got down-scaled to the post-credits cutscene you saw on release.” Gaider shared the outline of the scene between Solas and Flemeth, while deliberating further on why it was eventually cut from the plan, saying no actual work was done on the scene prior to it being discarded. He said he didn’t want to end the game so abruptly after the climax, but according to the counter-argument, few players ever make it that far into the game, so it could’ve been easily missed.
Gaider also added he actually did like the finished product, calling it a “nice, Marvel-esque stinger” which hinted atmore to come in theDragon Agefranchise. What fans saw between Solas and Flemeth became a quieter confrontation with the same tragic end, whereas in the original concept either the Inquisitor or Morrigan would’ve had a hand in the death of Flemeth. But while fans never got to see that ending, quite a bit of the original concept was then transferred to the story line of theDragon Age: InquisitionDLC Trespassers.
When creators decide to share background information with fans of their franchise it always brings an intriguing insight into the creative process that goes into shaping suchhuge games asDragon Age: Inquisition. While the original concept for the post-credit confrontation between Solas and Flemeth could have been a truly dramatic ending, there was still plenty of emotion in the ending ofDragon Age: Inquisitionfans got to experience.
