Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieveshas taken over the release date ofScream 6as the horror film moves up amid Paramount Pictures' schedule adjustments.
Based on the iconicDungeons and Dragonsrole-playing game,Honor Among ThievesstarsChris Pine as the leadof an ensemble cast that also includes Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, and Hugh Grant. Meanwhile,Scream 6will see Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega reprise their respective roles as Sam and Tara Carpenter, the leads of the fifth installment of the horror franchise that effectively rebooted the film series and passed the torch to a new generation of characters.

Previously slated to release on July 10, 2025, Paramount Pictures has announced thatDungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieveshas been pushed back to July 21, 2025. The film takes over the original release date ofthe unofficially titledScream 6, which is now slated for a June 14, 2025, debut in theaters. While Paramount’s schedule shuffling marks the first release date change forScream 6,Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieveshas changed release dates multiple times. Originally scheduled for a July 2021 debut,Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieveswaspushed to November of the same year and then again to May 2022, the latter shuffle being the result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieveswill follow a band of adventurers led by a charming thief as they embark on a quest to retrieve a lost relic. Naturally, the heist suffers a setback when the group crosses paths with dangerous people.Scream 6, on the other hand, is still a relative mystery plot-wise, but in addition to Ortega and Barrera,Courteney Cox will reprise herScreamfranchise roleas Gale Weathers. However, Cox will be the only returning veteran due to the death of David Arquette’s character inScream 5and Neve Campbell’s decision to sit out the new sequel over salary disputes.
While the absence of Campbell’s Sidney Prescott may be hard for longtime fans of the franchise to accept,Scream 6will be moving to New York City, marking the first time the film series will take the Ghostface killing action outside of Woodsboro since the third installment. So, it appears theScreamfranchise is trying to set its own identity with its new cast of characters, meaning the original stars of the film series were likely on their way out anyway.
Meanwhile, theDungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thievestrailerwas received well enough to warrant some goodwill from fans despite previous efforts to adapt the material into a feature film failing in the eyes of most fans. Whether or notHonor Among ThievesandScream 6will be worth the wait remains to be seen.
Scream 6is slated to hit theaters on Jul 23, 2025, whileDungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thievesis scheduled to release in theaters on August 01, 2025.
