Many weren’t even sure if it would even happen this year, butE3 2021is official and on track to take place this June. Naturally, it will be rather different compared to previous years, withE3 being a purely digital eventthis time around due to the coronavirus pandemic. But many big-name publishers and developers are scheduled to attend, and now E3 has announced who will be hosting the proceedings.
Three well-known figures within the games industry have been chosen to act as the faces of this year’sE3and will be present throughout a four-day broadcast, which begins on Saturday, June 12th and runs until Tuesday, June 15th, providing running commentary and interviews with publishers and developers. First is Greg Miller, a former IGN editor who many will recognise as one of the founders of the Kinda Funny YouTube channel.

Second is Jacki Jing, an Emmy-nominated TV journalist who has featured on IGN, Nerdist, Funimation, and Anime News Network. Aside from hosting red carpet events, she has also interviewed dozens of celebrities for feature films. And lastly is Alex Mendez, also known as Goldenboy, an esports commentator who has covered the likes ofFortnite, Halo, Overwatch,andValorant. He has also served as a commentator on NBC’sThe Titan Gamesand willsoon be joining G4.
The real question is which games will be featured and announced at the event. While some companies like Sony will be completely absent, the likes of Microsoft andNintendowill be in attendance, meaning expectations are high. Nintendo, in particular, has multiple titles fans have been desperate to learn more of for years now, such as the sequel toBreath of the WildandMetroid Prime 4, both of which have received little to no updates since their respective announcements.
Other attendees include Ubisoft, Warner Bros, and surprisinglyKonami. The company has developed a rather infamous reputation for how it has neglected its game franchises likeMetal GearandSilent Hill, to the point where many argue that Konami should sell its IPs to other studios. It’s too soon to tell what exactly Konami will be bringing to E3, but rumors of newMetal GearandSilent Hillgames have been floating around for a while.
As for what won’t be at E3, some insiders have claimed that fans shouldn’t expect certain games to be shown. For example,Gears of War 6will not be announced as well as therumored Hideo Kojima game for Xbox.
