AnElden Ringinvader manages to take down their target by simply waving at them.Elden Ring’s wide world of The Lands Between is vast and has surprises lurking around every corner, whether they were intended to be surprises or not. Especially when PVP invaders bring themselves into the mix, no one knows what can happen. One such moment befell a PVP invader who had some extraordinary luck on their side.

InElden Ring, there is acharacter named White Mask Varre. The player usually meets them as soon as they exit out into the open world for the first time, where he will admonish the player for having no maiden. Later on, the player can start a quest line from him that encourages the player to engage inElden Ring’s PVP, giving them the Festering Bloody Finger and telling them to invade other players three times to progress the quest, though it is not required to kill the player, just invade them.

One player was nearing the end of this part of the quest when their luck suddenly gave them a win. In a video posted to r/Eldenring that can be viewed here, user DrengrX was placed in thebeautiful city of Leyndelland went to look for the player, waving and shouting in the streets when they enter one of the city’s buildings to see the player running through the halls with co-op friends. The invader waves and shouts at them again, provoking the player to run in and attack, getting only one hit in before the enemies in the room. The foes, which consisted of two Perfumers and a High Page, ambushed the player and killed them, winning the invasion for the invader. The sequence of events is very memorable, and the video can be viewedhere.

Leyndell, Royal Capital is one of the more prominent areas inElden Ring, being a gigantic city of winding pathways filled with enemies waiting to ambush the player orcause frustrating encounters like the Leyndell Knights. Every corner and hallway is perfectly set up for situations like this, even if the invader didn’t seem to want to kill the player in the invasion, as they say they just wanted to get it over with so that they could continue the quest line.

While some PVP invaders use clever thinking toambush players in the Lake of Rot, others are just lucky enough that the game wins the invasion without any effort on their part, sometimes before they even encounter each other. Surprises areElden Ring’s bread and butter, and its moments like this that make the game shine.
