Video games don’t always end when it comes to the closing credits, or even after all the side missions have been completed. TakeFallout: New Vegasas an example. Obsidian Entertainment’s 2010 release has some of thebest DLC in all of gaming, and that’s before fans have a look at custom-made mods done by the community. There are already so many add-ons to choose from, but this latest mod implements something that some may feel should have been there from the start.
Called “Mojave Express Courier Delivery Work,” thisFallout: New Vegasmod created by CarlZee allows players to finally take on the role of a courier, which is the title given to the player when the game begins. However, despite being labelled as a messenger, the protagonist is shot in the head, effectively ending their career. But this add-on now makes it possible to actually become a courier, which includes having numerous locations for deliveries, time limits, and repercussions for not delivering on time. It even disables fast travel when a courier mission is active, which means the player has to actually travel across the Mojave wasteland or hire a caravan rather than completing each mission in seconds.

It’s definitely an interesting addition to the game, with the modder saying that this was something that was originally supposed to be in the main game but was seemingly taken out. Thecourier protagonist ofFallout: New Vegascan be quite an elusive figure, despite players getting to control them. While the name, physical appearance, and eventual stats can be customized based on individual choice, the title of “Courier” sticks with fans throughout, so it only seems fitting that this mod actually make it possible to get a job as one.
While someFallout: New Vegasmods turn the game into a horror experience, CarlZee’s simply looks to reintegrate a feature that would otherwise have been in the vanilla game anyway. It shows that the community is always looking to implement new ideas, or at least make amends when it comes to aspects that were likely cut during the development cycle.
On top of that, the 2010 release is considered by many to be thebestFalloutgame ever, with praise typically being lavished on its writing and sense of freedom. However, as beloved as it may be, modders like CarlZee are willing to prove that there’s always room for improvement, and this mod in particular sounds like an interesting one for those who want to experience life as a post-apocalyptic messenger.
Fallout: New Vegasis available now for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
