Fan art often combines two gaming franchises together for one work of art, but a fan ofThe Legend of ZeldaandTerrariarecently took it up a notch. This fan took their passion for both franchises to create a unique arcade cabinet.

A Reddit user known as FullyDinosaur recently posted an arcade cabinet that they just recently finished putting together that mashes up the worlds ofThe Legend of ZeldaandTerraria. While some fans immediately dismissed the combination as random, FullyDinosaur quickly pointed out that these games are the two they and their son have sunk the most time into.

Not simply a celebration of their gaming journey, a fan of FullyDinosaur’s blend ofThe Legend of ZeldaandTerrariamentioned that developers behindTerrariawere bigfans ofThe Legend of Zeldaseries. According to FullyDinosaur, the cabinet cost around $700 to make after gathering all of the materials, mechanisms, and commissioning the artwork. They claimed that it could have been made for cheaper if they used a bartop arcade with an old monitor and made the artwork themselves.

The mash-up arcade cabinet is covered in artwork fromThe Legend of ZeldaandTerraria, with one side representing each franchise. The arcade cabinet also blends the two games' artwork in the middle as Link fromThe Legend of Zeldafaces offagainst Cthulu fromTerrariain what appears to be Hyrule Field. While it may have been cheaper for the father and son duo to create the artwork themselves, this arcade cabinet may not have turned out as nicely as it has if they went another path with it.

In the photos FullyDinosaur posted to Reddit, the arcade cabinet is playingThe Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Pastbut it can also playTerraria. Considering they’re the games both father and son have put the most time into, this arcade cabinet may give them even more excuses to play them. The arcade cabinet includes two joysticks and sets of buttons, allowing both of them to play cooperative games together.

This arcade cabinet also features the vintage light-up coin insert buttons near the center of the unit, giving it that classic feeling. Since thisTerrariaandThe Legend of Zeldamash-up arcade cabinet uses a modern screen, the images clearly depict what’s going on as opposed to typical arcade cabinets. Thearcade cabinetutilizes a Raspberry Pi 3b, so it could feature a number of games beyondThe Legend of ZeldaandTerraria.
