It seems like creativity knows no boundaries when it comes to fan art. While there are many different mediums where people try to show their love for their favorite game, the most common type of fan art is either illustration or cosplay. Instead of turning to the usual methods, aMass Effectfan found an innovative way to show how much they like the franchise by customizing their own kitchenware. This unusual form ofMass Effectfan art has captured the attention of other fans, and understandably so.
Mass Effectfan art has not gone unnoticed by Bioware, the game’s developer. Even the officialMass EffectTwitter accounthas been encouraging fanseverywhere to share their creations. Fans have shown some of their artwork through the hashtag #MyShepard and some of the illustrations have been reshared by the developers.

However, this creative form of fan art was not shared on Twitter, but on the subreddit dedicated toMass Effect. User sabersman posted a picture of a cutting board withMass Effect’s N7 logoand the iconic red and white stripes present in the N7 armor. In one of the comments, sabersman detailed that the cutting board was made using walnut, hard maple, and purple heart. The latter was used to make the red stripe. Although the creation is not completely new, the creator mentioned that it has been two years since the creation of the cutting board and, apparently, it has been holding up quite nicely.
So far, the post has amassed almost two thousand upvotes and the comment section is very supportive of sabersman’s creation. Unsurprisingly, a Reddit user showed some interest in purchasing theMass Effect-inspired cutting board. However, the creator explained that the inlaying of the “N7” was extremely difficult and is yet to be perfected for sale. On the other hand, sabersman mentioned that theMass Effectcutting board was a gift for a friend so there is a chance that, with the kind of support received fromtheMass Effectsubreddit, sabersman will actually give this business opportunity a try.
With such an amazing creation, many think it is more of a collector’s item and not meant for actual use. However, sabersman stated that the cutting board has been used a lot during these two years. Apparently, the friend who received this gift has been using theMass Effectcutting board every single time they cook, but has been taking good care of it by applying food-grade mineral oil and beeswax from time to time to maintain the wood’s appearance. Maybe this will mark the beginning of moreMass Effect-inspiredcreationsfor the home.
