In order to celebrate one of the most influential survival horror games of all time, a company has released some merchandise forSilent Hill, but some of the designs have been met with a degree of mockery. Not only is it considered one of the best horror games of the PS2 era, the originalSilent Hill 2from 2001 is regarded by many as one of the most influential entries in the genre. As such, a lot of fans are highly anticipating the upcoming remake.Being helmed by Bloober Team, most notable for itsLayers of Fearseries andThe Medium, an officialremake ofSilent Hill 2is currently in development. While a project of this kind has been rumored for several years, it was only towards the latter parts of 2022 that it was confirmed. However, it’s not clear exactly when it will release, but there are some who feel it could be arriving some time this year, especially given the studio has allegedly been working on the game since 2019.RELATED:Silent Hill 2 James Sunderland Figure Release Window and Price RevealedIn the meantime, fans can get to grips with some newSilent Hill 2t-shirts and hoodies from Online Ceramics. However, some of the designs have been baffling and even amusing to some. It seems that a number of people over on Twitter have been expressing a kind of ironic joy over some of the shirts that are on sale. The first example comes from user Eyepatch Wolf, who shows an image of one that depicts a blurry image from the original sequel with the words “All you care about is that dead wife of yours” printed underneath. Some, such as The Apocalyvid, have been quite bemused by the fact that some of the shirts sport the company’s URL on the front.
User Chairman George says that this is almost certainly intentional, as people these days are “into ironically bad fashion,” while Tomokocchi says they love the fact that one of the designs is just a “screenshot from the text crawl of the game’s ending,” which also features a “random quote from Eddie.” There have been some otherSilent Hill 2merchandise in the past, but this range from Online Ceramics appears to have inspired a certain amount of roasting from the community.
Humor aside, it is a fantastic time to be a fan ofhorror gaming in 2023. With the recent remake ofResident Evil 4doing well among fans, not to mention a new entry in Frictional’sAmnesiaseries on the way, the upcoming remake ofSilent Hill 2feels like it’s going to fit right in, providing Bloober can pull it off.
