One of the statistics inFinal Frontierthat isn’t often considered until it is too late is desirability. Players will amass a bunch of homes and then find out that progression requires that those homes be highly desirable. In packed areas, trying to fix this is impossible without messing up the entire structure of the village.

Therefore, desirability needs to be at the forefront when building any home or groups of homes inFarthest Frontier. To get to the highest tier and progress, players will be required to have these homes, so plan on it early with just a few simple tips.

Increasing Desirability

When building homes, the following directions should give gamers a good idea of how to get the most out of new residential areas.

Buildings That Increase Desirability

Building homes that are close to these structures will increase their desirability. Note that many of these buildings can be found in the Decorations section. The bonuses from these buildings do not stack, meaning that building several bakeries next to each other will only give the benefit of one bakery but building a bakery, theatre, and pub next to each other will all benefit the nearby homes.

Buildings That Decrease Desirability

As can be expected, these buildings should be kept far away from the homes. Desirability only matters when it comes to living at home, the citizens don’t mind massive areas of negative desirability so long as they only have to work there. It’s wise to keep these buildings in a district by themselveswith some room to grow while keeping the homes in a separate location. Consider using large 12x12 farms with anideal crop rotationas a buffer between the two areas.

Toggle The Desirability View When Building

Press the ‘G’ button to open up the Desirability view. This will reveal how much the villagers want to live on any given portion of land. Although there are slight variations, any unestablished territory is largely going to be a medium orange, neither good nor bad.

When building houses, players should identify green and blue areas and avoid red ones. This has more to do with surrounding buildings than the natural landscape, so at the start, there won’t be any prominent areas to build. Lakes, forests, mountains, and coasts all have roughly the same desirability.
