Out of all of the video game franchises in existence,Final Fantasyhas one of the biggest followings. There are a lot of characters to cosplay as, but the more recent titles tend to get more of the attention. That’s why it’s always nice when a cosplayer dips back into the franchise history and cosplays as a character from an older entry in the series, such as one Redditor who dressed up as Yuna fromFinal Fantasy 10.
It may not seem like an older title, butFinal Fantasy 10is twenty years old now and it still has a special place in people’s hearts. It was the first in the series to be on the PlayStation 2, for one, but it also had a great story and likable characters, for the most part. The main character has gotten a lot of guff over everything from his bizarre laughing scene to the way he dresses, but he certainly wasn’t the worst protagonist in the series. There are people who stillcosplay asFinal Fantasy 10’s Tidus, which says a lot about the character.

Clearly an avidFinal Fantasyfan, Reddit user HarumiMinoru recently posted pictures of their Gunner Yuna fromFinal Fantasy 10-2. This was the default Dressphere for the character, something that could be equipped to change jobs and was unique to this entry’s battle system. This iconic look was important because it showed a major change for Yuna, who went from a meek summoner to a strong, independent adventurer. The cosplayer nails the character’s costume very well and is even holding a pair of guns and rocking Yuna’s fresh haircut from the sequel.
An interesting new tidbit aboutFinal Fantasy 10popped up in a recent interview with the game’s staff. Apparently,Tidus once has a different occupationthan a professional Blitzball player in an earlier version. He would have a lot more in common with a certain Nintendo mascot, being that he was originally planned to be a plumber. As time went on, however, that changed, and for the better, most would agree.
Another major draw for this particular entry is the soundtrack, which should come as no surprise since the series is known for its memorable musical scores. In honor of the game’s 20th anniversary,Final Fantasy 10is getting a vinyl recordsoundtrack release. It won’t contain every song from the game but will have most of its best. It’s available now through the Square Enix store.
The release ofFinal Fantasy 10is often seen as the last entry in the golden age for the series. The games that have followed tend to split the community one way or another. Those that have played over these many long years know which to play and which to skip, but newcomers will need some help in figuring outall the best and worstFinal Fantasygamesin the franchise.
