Roughly halfway throughFinal Fantasy 16,players will unlock one of the game’s most rewarding pieces of side content: the Hunt Board. Maintained by Nektar the Moogle, this board is regularly updated with high-value targets known asNotorious Marks, which, when defeated, provide Clive with many ofFinal Fantasy 16’s rarest crafting materials. While the difficulty level of each hunt varies, the challenges they present are usually formidable, and will always provide Clive with a worthwhile break from the main story.

The hunt for The Pack will be made available as Clive enters the late stages ofFinal Fantasy 16.After facing down Dion Lesage in the Crystalline Dominion, the mission “Things Fall Apart” will begin. This multi-part quest requires Clive and his companions to complete several tasks. Nektar will add the notice for The Pack after completing the first three of these tasks, which focus on helping Cid’s allies in Northreach, Dalimil, and Martha’s Rest. Once “Things Fall Apart” is finished, Clive will have full access to the map once again. This guide will walk the player through all aspects of the hunt.

The Pack are a group of wolves that have gathered near the town of Tabor in Dhalmekia. This hunt is slightly different from many Clive will face, playing out more like thehunt for the Soul Stingersearlier in the game than any of the single enemy hunts. He will have to take out each individual wolf to successfully complete this hunt.

When Clive is able, Travel to the Tabor Obelisk and head south towards The Gilded Path. On the map, the player will see what appears to be a small arena just below the actual printed name of the Gilded Path, this is where The Pack will be found. See the above map for the exact location.

When Can Clive Hunt The Pack in Final Fantasy 16?

Every update to the Hunt Board coincides with the completion of a specific main-story mission. In this case, the hunt is added to the board during “Things Fall Apart,” but Clive will not be able to complete the hunt until during or after the subsequent mission, “Cloak and Dagger.” In that mission, Clive will first gain access to the town of Tabor, and more importantly for the hunt, the pathway known as The Gilded Path. Clive can actually complete The Pack hunt during the events of “Cloak and Dagger,” which results in Joshua being included in the party.

How to Defeat The Pack in Final Fantasy 16

The Pack does not have a Will Gauge, so make sure to switch outany Eikonic Abilities that focus on staggerbefore entering the arena. Abilities with high attack ratings are much more valuable here, so make sure to choose the desired abilities before beginning combat, as Clive cannot change his setup while fighting.

At Mark Rank C, The Pack are among the lowest ranked enemies among all Notorious Marks. However, this does not mean that they are not dangerous. If Clive is swarmed, he can take a tremendous amount of damage very quickly. To avoid this, try to maintain a position on the edge of the pack, avoid the center at all times.

Defensive Tactics:

The Pack’s most dangerous ability is called’Thrill of the Hunt.‘They will attack Clive one after another in very quick succession, which can be fatal if not properly guarded against. The first defensive option isthe Precision Dodge, but Clive must be careful not to counter after evading the first enemy. Instead, wait until each wolf has been evaded before pressing the attack. Perfecting the dodge and counter will allow Clive to remain aggressive even while on defense.

Using Limit Break here is another option, as it willallow Clive to parry the attackswith ease, while also slowly refilling the HP meter, which will help mitigate any wolf attack that connects. As all Notorious Marks are formidable foes, Clive may want to consider using Stoneskin Tonics to bolster his defense.
