In its current form,Minecraftis one of the biggest IPs in gaming history, despite being more than ten years old, and the developer is continuing to add more content to the game. WithMojang due to release The Wild updateat some point, fans will get to experience more biomes and new mobs, as well as some other tweaks and additions. However, there has been some talk about the fact that fireflies won’t be making an appearance in the upcoming patch, but it’s possible the studio will include them at some point.
That’s according to a recent video in which producer Anna Lundgren spoke about the topic on the officialMinecraftYouTube channel. A user who goes by T.P. asked what had happened to the fireflies that were due to be added to the game. Lundgren said that they were supposed to be implemented alongside frogs, with the bugs serving as food for the amphibians. However, after some feedback, it turned out that some fireflies can actually be poisonous to frogs, which caused Mojang to reconsider adding them, though Lungdern did go on to say that they are still in the pipeline.

This means that they may still be coming to the game. It’s just not something the team is considering just yet. At the time of writing, there is still no definite release date for The Wild update, but hopefully fans won’t have long to wait. WithMinecraftgetting the Caves & Cliffs Part 2 update last year, the developer is showing no signs of slowing down when it comes to adding new ideas to what is already a pretty substantial game with plenty to see and do.
Given how much content is already present, it’s definitelya game that players can sink hundreds of hours into, with its immense open world and roster of powerful tools allowing for near-endless creativity. For some, it may be a shame that fireflies won’t make an appearance in the next major update, but it’s understandable given the information that Mojang became aware of in terms of the real world insects.
One ofMinecraft’s greatest strengths is its longevity, and with all these patches that keep coming out, there is seemingly no end in sight for the blocky sandbox game. There’s no telling what the studio will come up with next, but suffice it to say, it’s hardly surprising that it’s one of the most successful video games in recent history, if not of all time.
