As players explore theFortnitemap, they will sometimes stumble upon characters that will sell them items or that can even be recruited for a certain price. These are theFortniteNPCs, and they can come in handy if players know which ones to look for in certain situations; sometimes, a powerful weapon is all the player needs, but other times an NPC with healing items is what truly makes a difference.

This guide will talk about everything NPC available on the Season 2Fortnitemap and which services they can provide to aid the player.
Friendly Character Locations And Services
A new season has started, and that means that the character’s in-game Collection has been wiped clean and reset. A couple of NPCs, such as Sunflower, are still available, but players need to talk to them once again if they’d like to register them to complete their Collection.
At the moment, there are 12 friendly NPCs scattered throughout the battle royale map, and they all provide different services. It is likely that as Chapter 4 Season 2 goes on, this number will grow; it’s not unusual for Epic Games to add more characters to the map as the devs update the game throughout the various weeks of the season. Here are all the NPCs on the map and the services that players can get from them:

Unfortunately, gamers are no longer able to check their Collections while in the lobby. It is unknown if this is a bug or a consequence of the season update, which removed the quest button and added a quest tab instead. If players desire to check out their Collections to see which NPCs they still need to talk to, they have to enter a match, open the map tab, and then select the Collections section.
Miscellaneous Characters' Locations And Behavior
The NPC mentioned below aren’t part of the Character Collection page, but they are worth mentioning as each of them plays an important role in the game and might even be crucial to the lore that will come up later on in the season.
Triarch Nox
Not only is this character mysterious, but it’s definitely strange and hiding something. He can be foundinside the building on the southern end of Lonely Labsand, when looking for tampering evidence while completing narrative Syndicate quests, he can be seen nearby,on the hill that overlooks Windcatch Lake, east of Mega City.

Gamers cannot purchase anything from Triarch Nox; it is only possible to talk to him. When engaging with this odd fellow, he will warn players to stay away from the terminal. Certainly, as more lore quests are released, players will get more information on this character’s role and begin to understandits relation toFortnite’s storyline.
Highcard
Just like Triarch Nox, Highcard can be found in more than one location. This character is a Cold-Blooded boss, and his job is to protect nearbyvaults filled with game-changing loot.Highcard will wander near Mega City, Shattered Slabs, and Brutal Bastion; he has several spawn locations, and they will all be active at the same time once the first Storm Circle has closed.
Once Highcard is available on the map, a marker will appear on the player’s screen displaying his nearest location. The player will then have to engage in combat and defeat him to take his keycard and open the vault. He always spawns with Cold-Blooded henchmen that are tasked with protecting him at all costs, and they must either be eliminated or evaded.
Random Encounters
Gamers can have random encounters with other non-playable characters. They will appear as familiar skins from the game, but they won’t be registered on the Collection book. Oftentimes, it will be impossible to interact with them.
Since these characters won’t be marked on the mini-map with a speech bubble, it’s easy to mistake them for an enemy player and attack them. This will make the characters hostile, and they will start shooting anyone around. It is not worth engaging in combat on purpose because once defeated, they will always leave behind common loot and some ammo.
Usually, when a random encounter spawns, the character that appears will be doing something goofy and be surrounded by valuable items such as consumable mushrooms or a couple of chests.
Fortniteis available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
