Fortniteis a perfect example of a game that is constantly evolving and reinventing itself. Developer Epic Games has been consistently delivering new content forFortnitealmost weekly, not to mention crossover content with some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry such as Disney and Warner Bros.Fortnite’supcoming collaboration is going to be a little bit different, though, as Epic Games is planning to bring 80s icon Pac-Man into the game.

For players who grew up visiting arcade centers in their local neighborhood,Pac-Man certainly needs no introduction. The character has seen international fame ever since the firstPac-Mangame was released by Namco in 1980. With his easily recognizable appearance, Pac-Man had also been the mascot of Namco long before the company merged with Bandai. It has also made appearances in numerous movies and other games as well.

The voracious yellow character is now ready tomake an appearance inFortnite. In a relatively low-key announcement on Pac-Man’s official website for Japan, the collaboration between Pac-Man andFortniteis scheduled to start on June 2nd. When that time comes, items with the Pac-Man motif will appear inFortnite, according to the translated version of the announcement.

As there are no further details provided by either Bandai Namco or Epic Games, it’s unclear whether these Pac-Man-themed items would come toFortnitein the form of skins or apparel.Fortnitetypically offered purchasable skins with its previous collaborative crossover content, giving players the chance to play as an entirely new character. In its latest collaboration, for example,Fortnitelet players drop into the island as Robocop.

Only time will tell whetherFortniteplayers will be able to gobble their way throughFortnite’smap as Pac-Man. As of this writing, Epic Games hasn’t given any kind of response to Bandai Namco’s announcement, so fans must keep in mind that things may still be subject to change. But before all that takes place, though,Fortnitefans will first have the chance to obtain the skin of Obi-Wan KenobifromStar Wars.

The addition of Pac-Man inFortniteonly expands the game’s seemingly limitless potential to include just about every popular IP that Epic Games could think of. Collaborations like this usually happen when said IPs are in the middle of promoting themselves. As for Pac-Man, the character is about to make a big return through a compilation game titledPac-Man Museum+, soappearing inFortnitemight just be one way to help hype upthe launch of the game.

Fortniteis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
