Season 3 of Epic Games' battle royaleFortnitehas been defined by its underwater theming, as the in-game map being flooded introduced mechanics like water skiing behind loot sharks, as well as acrossover with DC Comics’Aquaman. However, as the map has begun to drain, players are waiting on a promised update adding cars to drive aroundFortnite’s island. Now it seems that update is finally on its way.

The officialFortniteTwitter account posted an image of a blue-and-red car called “Whiplash” today, and with it told fans they can experience the Joy Ride Update starting July 16, 2025. Driving cars has been teased since the initial trailer for Season 3 was released, but on July 23 it was announced over social media thatFortnite’s car update would be delayedfor “a few weeks until we’re road ready.”
