When Spider-Man was revealed to be a playable character in the upcomingMarvel’s Avengers, the reaction should have been one of excitement. Of any superhero, Spider-Man is arguably one of the most universally loved. Despite this, or perhaps because of it, many fans were upset when it was announced that theweb slinging hero would be exclusive to PS4 and PS5.
Marvel’s Avengersdoesn’t follow along with the MCU’s pre-established characters, instead drawing inspiration from the comic book source material to create new versions of these characters and tell a new story. Needless to say, Spider-Man is a highly anticipated addition even though there’s some resentment surrounding his exclusivity.

The email above clearly states that Spider-Man “swings intoMarvel’s Avengersnext March,” with the kind of certainty that tends to be pretty convincing. Given that the game is set to release on September 4th, this would be quite a ways out past launch, meaning even PlayStation players shouldn’t expect to play as Spidey for quite a while after the game releases. It’s also worth noting that thePS5 version ofMarvel’s Avengerswill probably be out by next March, so Spider-Man will probably make his way over to that as well.
Of course, neither Crystal Dynamics nor Square Enix have confirmed this information, so fans would be wise to take it with a grain of salt. As with all leaks, there’s always the possibility that it is fake or misinformed, though GAME appears to be a relatively reliable source. Either way, it is likely that fans will have a straight answer from the developers soon, asCrystal Dynamicsmight want to clean up the confusion and give the concrete date now if it actually already has one.
Waiting until March for Spider-Man is unfortunate, but the gamewill likely be packed with other stuff to do in the meantime. Only time will tell if this particular leak is legit, though.
