Developer Santa Monica Studio has released update 4.01 forGod of War Ragnarok, fixing some bugs and other issues present in the game.God of War Ragnarokis one of the highest-rated games of the last few years, and its critical reception was matched by commercial success, asRagnaroksold 11 million copieswithin the first three months.
Since its release in November 2022, Santa Monica Studio has released various updates forGod of War Ragnarok,primarily focusing on fixing issues and other bugs. More recently, the developer launched amassive update forGod of War Ragnarokthat came with New Game+, new pieces of equipment, an increased level cap, and a variety of other improvements. Another update forGod of War Ragnarok, titled patch 4.01, is also out now on PlayStation consoles.

As detailed by the patch notes, update 4.01 forGod of War Ragnarokis primarily aimed at fixing bugs, with a focus on issues related to trophies not unlocking for some players. This patch fixes issues where the trophies titled Ready for Commitment, Dragon Slayer, and Phalanx would not unlock for gamers in certain circumstances. As an example, users who crafted a level 9+shield inGod of War Ragnarokbefore crafting every other type of shield would not unlock the Phalanx trophy, so update 4.01 fixes the issue.
Other fixes include resolving an issue that would prevent players from upgrading the Darkdale Waist Guard or Risen Snow Armor past level 9 in New Game+, and a rare crash that may occur when loading save files. Finally, update 4.01 forGod of War Ragnarokfixed an issue where players would not receive specific in-game resources, such as Lindwyrm Scales or Sovereign Coals, in New Game+. Overall, it looks like this update mainly focuses on some bugs that may have been introduced due to theNew Game+ update forGod of War Ragnarok, along with a few other fixes.
Fans looking for more of a challenge should note that the New Game+ update forGod of War Ragnarokadds some variations to endgame bosses like Valkyrie Queen Gna, giving users a fresh experience when they fight these enemies in NG+. It also adds the ability to skip some cinematics fromGod of War Ragnarok, allowing gamers to get to the action sequences faster as they have already seen these cutscenes during their first playthrough of the game.

Please note that these trophies will be granted retroactively to players who fulfilled the prerequisites between the time the NG+ patch (v. 04.00) and this patch were implemented.
