AGod of Warfan, clearly passionate about the franchise, received a tattoo of Mimir that covers the majority of their upper right arm. The smartest man alive became an instant fan favorite upon his introduction into the series, andGod of Warhas not been the same since his stories and quips.

Thesequel that was 2018’sGod of Waracted as a soft reboot for the franchise, previously a hack-and-slash series set in Ancient Greece that journeyed to Norse mythology and became a third-person action-adventure on the way. One of the figures that Kratos and his son Atreus come across during their mission is Mimir, imprisoned within a tree atop what the two gods believe to be the highest peak in all the realms. Mimir, once an advisor to Odin, corrects them, revealing the place they seek to be in Jotunheim, Land of the Giants, and offers his services. Unable to free him, Kratos subsequently decapitates Mimir and aptly nicknames him “Head.”

An image posted to Reddit by sippin40s shows Mimir’s head no longer dangling from Kratos' waist, but as a tattoo that covers the majority of their upper right arm. The art is mightily impressive, perfectly capturing Mimir’s one-eyed gaze, inscriptions, and horns. His missing eye is canonically accurate, asGod of War2018 sees the trio retrieve itfrom the belly of the World Serpentto get to Jotunheim.

The comments did the only thing one can do when discussing Mimir, which is using whatever quote of his is most appropriate for the situation. “Ohh I felt that one brother,” and “don’t worry, it’ll pass” were a couple of the most upvoted, interspersed with other comments amazed at how well the tattoo turned out.God of War Ragnarokreceived minor criticismfor just how much companions, Mimir included, talk and insist on giving the answers to puzzles before players had had any time to figure them out, so it is nice to appreciate the more helpful dialogue that the smartest man alive is known for.

God of War Ragnarokwas released to universal praise late last year and players are still analyzing the game in depth. But beyond masterful displays of combat and discussions of the story, one fan just wanted to find outwhat everything looked like from Mimir’s perspective. Given how he is typically placed on Kratos' waist, and how much the retired God of War moves in combat, it is not surprising that such a video would consist of intense and unintelligible camera shake.

God of War Ragnarokis available on PS4 and PS5.
