Players of Santa Monica Studio’sGod of War Ragnarokwill come across all manner of ill-tempered foes to slay over the course of the game, but a hilarious new video shows that some enemies can get especially moody when Kratos ruins their routine. Most well-known for the wildly successfulGod of Warseries, a recent job opening hints thatSanta Monica Studio may be working on a new gamepotentially unrelated to the iconic franchise.

A sequel to 2018’s critically acclaimedGod of Warreboot,God of War Ragnarokdoubled down on its predecessor’s emotionally powerful narrative and brutal melee combat to deliver one of the most well-received gaming experiences of 2022. Set three years after the conclusion ofGod of War, the ambitious sequel adds additional Realms for Kratos and Atreus to explore across a lengthy campaign that sees the pair coming face-to-face with all types of powerful mythic entities. While the game was praised by critics and players alike for its remarkable level of polish, somebugs inGod of War Ragnarokstill managed to slip through the cracks with occasionally hilarious results.

Illustrating how bugs in the hit action game can sometimes lead to unintentionally amusing encounters, Redditor yet-more-bees shared a clip of their fight with one ofGod of War Ragnarok’s The Hatefultaking a strange turn after they inadvertently broke the optional boss’ pathing. The clip, which was shared to r/GodofWar, shows yet-more-bees battling The Hateful near the edge of a small cliff before unleashing a flurry of attacks that pushes the creature over the edge. As they approached the temporarily downed Draugr, the life bar for The Hateful vanishes and the creatures stands passively in front of Kratos before setting off on a hilariously awkward run to the edge of the cliff and climbing back up. Seemingly satisfied to have the higher ground once more, The Hateful then unleashes an AOE attack that causes their life bar to reappear.

ManyGod of War Ragnarokfans responding to the unusual encounter found the clip hilarious, with one popular response written from The Hateful’s perspective grumpily exclaiming “No fair! I’m not playing down here. Hmmph.” Another Redditor was amused by the unusual gait The Hateful used to make its way back to the cliffside, calling the despondent Draugr’s prancing “kinda cute.” The Hateful apparently doesn’t always express such a bad attitude when knocked off of its perch, though, as one respondent noted that when the same thing happened in their game The Hateful simply disappeared as soon as they jumped down to its level.

This hilarious clip goes to show that, even amidst all theincredible details inGod of War Ragnarok, there are still a few unpatched bugs waiting to amuse or annoy unsuspecting players. And while this particular battle may not have gone quite how yet-more-bees expected, at least they now have an entertaining clip to remember it by.

God of War Ragnarokis available now for PS4 and PS5.
