Greedfall 2: The Dying Worldis an upcoming sequel to Spiders' hit RPG. While Spiders is not known for making sequels,Greedfallgarnered enough popularity to warrant it. Fans will likely not see the game for another couple of years though, as no release date has been announced as of this writing.
What has been released is a trailer, which focuses on the Teer Fradee natives battling against a group of soldiers before they get captured, put on a ship, and go toward a city. Chronologically, this game will take place three years before the events ofGreedfall. According to Spiders' website,Greedfall 2will put the player in the shoes of the colonized rather than the colonizer, but being a prequel does beg the question of whether players will see the protagonist from the firstGreedfallappear or not.

De Sardet’s Story in Greedfall
De Sardet grew up in Serene, the biggest city of the Congregation of Merchants. It is also one of the most important ports on Gacane, known for its sea trade and for its neutrality. Growing up in such a town, De Sardet prepared for a future role in the Congregation of merchants with tutors and advisors, and they were particularly close to their cousin Constantin d’Orsay, who often got into trouble that De Sardet had to sort out.
While De Sardet knew their mother to be the Princess Livie De Sardet, it is later revealed that De Sardet was adopted. It turned out De Sardet is a native, and their biological mother was a native who died on a ship back to the Congregation of Merchants. This is the reason De Sardet has the marking of a native.
How De Sardet Could Play a Role In Greedfall 2
Three years before theevents ofGreedfall, De Sardet likely stuck to Serene with their advisors and tutors, and had more duties in preparation for their political responsibilities. However, De Sardet could be in a bubble three years ago, sticking to the walls of their home and not venturing outside. Due to the Malichor plague and how it may have been prevalent three years ago, many of the people in Serene could be quarantined during the events ofGreedfall 2. However, there is also the possibility that the consequences of the plague have not hit the port yet.
De Sardet being a product of character creation establishes an extra hurdle to seeing them appear again. Spiders will either need to make it so De Sardet is involved without being seen, or do whatDragon Age: Inquisitiondid with Hawke and let the player quickly create their rendition of De Sardet again. Due to this extra step in seeing De Sardet again, it is more likely thatGreedfall 2will have different familiar characters such as Constantin.
There is also the matter of who the new protagonist ofGreedfall 2will be. Based on the trailer, it looks likeGreedfall 2could be a narrative similar to its predecessor, but flipped. A native is coming to the urbanized world instead of a politician coming to land to colonize, with the new world now being settled and seen through the eyes of a native of Teer Fradee.
There is an argument for De Sardet’s involvement given their hometown is the biggest port in the world, meaning it would likely be one place a native protagonist will pass through. If De Sardet does not make an appearance, it is at least likely that De Sardet’s family members or evencompanions like Kurtwill show their faces. Fans may even get to see De Sardet’s adoptive mother before she got the plague, but for now it remains to be seen.
