GTA Onlineis constantly trying to implement new features to prevent the game from becoming stale, but the repetitive nature of some of its missions will often leave fans feeling cheated. The ContractDLC, however, attempted to remedy the game’s monotony by implementingthe Payphone Hit side event.
Buying An Agency
The player will need toown an Agencyto beginThe ContractDLC. There areseveral Agencies to choosefrom, with prices ranging from$2,010,000to$2,830,000, so purchasing one may be difficult for newcomers.
A fast way to amass the necessary funds is to complete a fewCayo Perico heists, but doing so will also require some start-up cash. Each Agency building serves the same purpose, so it doesn’t matter which one is bought.
After becoming the proud owner of an Agency building, Franklin will invite the player for a tour of their new facility. He explains that he once sought to distance himself from his life of crime, but he has recently found himself longing for the rush it once gave him. It appears he has moved up a great deal in the world in the five years since his appearance inGTA 5, but his return sees him craving a small taste of his former lifestyle.
Completing Security Contracts
Once pleasantries have been exchanged, Franklin leads the player to their new office, where they will operate an unusually powerful computer. It will be necessary toregister as either a CEO, Motorcycle Club President, or a VIP to gain access to the computer, so if the lobby is full, searching for a new session and trying again will usually free up some space.
Once accessed, the computer will offer a variety of unique side missions for the player to complete, but the primary focus should be placed onthe Security Contracts.
There are six contracts available, butunlocking the Payphone Hitevent requires a mere minimum of three to be completed. They pose little challenge for long-time players, but newcomers may struggle if they approach them unprepared. With only three needed to be completed, there is no need to waste time on the more arduous ones.
Rescue Operation
TheRescue Operationcontract is arguably the easiest mission to complete if the player has access to a strong and fast vehicle. The premise sees one of Franklin’s clients pinned down by enemy forces in a remote location wherein they have no hope of escape. They need to be evacuated quickly, so a long journey must be made in a short space of time to rescue them.
Safely collecting the client and delivering them to the Agency will complete the mission, but there are many obstacles in the way of achieving this.
The armed men surrounding the client will pose little threat, but the pursuing helicopters may cause trouble on the return journey if the chosen mode of transport is susceptible to gunfire. The Rescue Operation can be completed with ease if the player has access to the flying Deluxo.
Recover Valuables
TheRecover Valuablesevent tasks Franklin’s new team member with infiltrating an enemy base to recover some valuable goods from a safe. Though it sounds simple in theory, the unpredictable nature ofGTA’s close-range combat can quickly render this job an arduous and frustrating one. Patience is key when approaching this contract as danger lurks behind each of its corners.
Several armed foes are standing in the way of the safe, so it is necessary to approach with caution. Once they have all been dispatched, the code for the safe must be located to obtain the sought-after valuables. Recovering what lies in the safe is all this mission requires to be completed.
Asset Protection
TheAsset Protectionmission can be incredibly challenging without the appropriate firearms. It requires the player to protect a series of boxes from enemy gunfire for a total of ten minutes, so it can quickly go sideways if the assailants aren’t dealt with quickly. Multiple armed opponents will arrive on the scene in vans, but their attempt at intimidation can be quickly negated with a few well-aimed rockets.
A vehicle capable of firing missiles will render this contract laughably easy, but not all players will have one. If this is the case, heavy weaponry and throwable explosiveswill be the best means available for surviving the elongated onslaught of Asset Protection.
Unlocking Payphone Hits
Oncethree Security Contracts have been completed, Franklin will offer a series of new jobs that pay much higher than what he offered previously. These particular missions are so dangerous, in fact, that he will call the player via the many payphones scattered throughout Los Santos to ensure his identity is kept a secret.

Payphone Hits can be performed byanswering a ringing payphoneon the street. Their appearances are usually random, butthe interaction menucan be used to force Franklin to offer one if he is taking too long.
$15,000will be rewarded for completing a Payphone Hit, but meeting the bonus objective will add$70,000more to the grand total, making it one of the best ways in the current game to make fast money.
Each Payphone mission pays the same amount, but some are more enjoyable than others.
The CEO
Franklin asks his associate to journey to a construction site and assassinate a CEO in disguise. The CEO will be seen wandering aimlessly on-site, taking brief moments to examine his environment. Making his death look like a work-related accident will complete the bonus objective.
The Judge
The Judge will be found playing golf at the Los Santos Golf Club with two armed security guards by his side. Completing the bonus objective requires the appropriate golfing attire to be worn and a golf club to be used as the murder weapon.
The Cofounder
The target will exit from his motel room and attempt to flee in his car. He can be dispatched immediately, or his car can be tampered with to make his demise look like an accident. To do this, his car must be fitted with an explosive by driving it to a nearby Pay ‘n’ Spray.
The Popstar
The Popstar will be found driving aimlessly across Los Santos in his Annis Euros. Completing the bonus objective will either require the player to pursue the target in a Police Cruiser or to spray him with bullets from a vehicle associated with a local gang.
The Trolls
Four separate targets must be assassinated within the given amount of time to complete this Payphone Hit. The bonus objectives will vary, with one requiring the Trolls to be run over in a car and the other demanding that they be shot in the head by a sniper.
The Tech Entrepreneur
The Tech Entrepreneur will be found standing outside the front of a hotel. He can be quickly dealt with there and then, or he can be collected in a taxi and disposed of more eccentrically. Driving the taxi off a pier or into an explosive fueling station will complete the bonus objective.
The Dealers
Unlike the six prior Payphone Hits, The Dealers can only be completed with two or more members in the player’s Organization. Achieving the highest reward requires both players to take out four Juggalos at the same time, so a party of four is recommended to ensure success.
The Hitmen
Like the Dealers mission, the Hitmen can only be played with a party of two or more people. Eight targets must be disposed of to claim the reward, but the bonus objective requires them to be taken out when they eventually arrive at their destination.
GTA Onlineis available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
