A Coruscant-Like World Would Make Sense in the Helldivers Universe
The hub of theStar Warsgalaxy, Coruscant has appeared across allStar Warsmedia over the last few decades, appearing in novels, comic books, movies, TV shows, andvideo games likeStar Wars Jedi: Survivor. As the central hub of the galaxy, Coruscant is a melting pot of alien species and cultures, with its surface level being depicted as a bustling metropolis filled with tall skyscrapers and an airspace that’s lined with starship traffic, while its lower levels are dark, dingy, and home to the shadierStar Warsfactions. FewStar Warsplanets are quite as busy, elegant, and dangerous as Coruscant, and that archetype would work well inHelldivers 2’s universe.
Inthe firstHelldivers, humanity spread itself across the stars sometime after the last Great War ended, which was sometime before the year 2044. Humanity continued to set up colonies across the galaxy until the First Galactic War in 2084, where humanity was ‘forced’ to wipe out the Bug, Cyborg, and Illuminate alien factions. Around 100 years later, a Second Galactic War breaks out, which is whenHelldivers 2takes place. In the 100 years that passed betweenHelldiversentries, it seems likely that humanity would have built some sizable Coruscant-like cities on some planets, likely the ones closest to Super Earth.
A Coruscant-Like World Could Offer a Completely New Helldivers Experience
WhileHelldivers 2offers plenty of different biomes spread across its 250+ planets, the environmental detailing feels very similar across most. On most planets, players will usually find a few small human research facilities, a few prefab shelters, a few missile silos and mortar turrets, and that’s about it. Humanity has a surprisingly small presence inHelldivers 2, even on planets that are closer toSuper Earth.
A Coruscant-like metropolis planet inHelldivers 2wouldn’t just offer a major change of scenery for players, it would also shake upHelldivers 2’s gameplay quite a bit. Most planets inHelldivers 2consist of long stretches of even plains, with only a few rocks or environmental objects blocking the player’s line of sight. A Coruscant-like planet inHelldivers 2could bring a lot more verticality to the game, having players ascend crumbling skyscrapers to reach Terminid nests or Automaton factories located on the roof. It might be tricky to balance some ofHelldivers 2’s current Stratagemswith a denser Coruscant-like map, but it’s a change of paceHelldivers 2could definitely use right now.
