Earlier today, famous game director, Hideo Kojima, announced via Twitter that he is currently working on a new concept for a subsequent game. This announcement was made over one month after the release of Kojima’s highly anticipated title,Death Stranding, which was met with critical acclaim as well as several award nominations and wins.
Hideo Kojima is the creator ofDeath Strandingand a world-renowned figurehead in both the gaming industry and community. He is also the creator of the belovedMetal Gearseries, which as of September of this year, has sold over 55 million copies collectively. Hideo Kojima has progressively become a household name when it comes to anything video games and several other game developers have been influenced by his work. In fact, there is actuallyan Easter egg inFallout 4that referenced one of Kojima’s earliest games.

Kojima made a post on Twitter announcing that he was “working on the next concept” at his office. In addition, he included a picture of his desk that features his laptop with a blank ‘Pages’ document opened on his screen. Based on the Tweet and the included picture, there is not that much information to glean. That being said, as far as Kojima teasing the fans, this Tweet is actually less cryptic than some of theother teasers Kojima has released.
Like with every other teaser that Kojima has released, this Tweet was met with a massive amount of fan speculation and discussion. Could this next concept be a sequel toDeath Strandingor is this for an entirely new game? Potentially, this Tweet could be in reference to the rumor that Kojima might be coming back towork with Konami on a newSilent Hillgame.
This Tweet could be good news or bad news depending on who you ask. Despite the amount of excitement surroundingDeath Strandingprior to its release, it did not exactly land its mark on American audiences. While the game did perform well for audiences outside of North America, for whatever reason, the game did not resonate the same kind of response that Kojima had anticipated.
That being said, Kojima still has the faith and support of many people in both the gaming industry and community. Some of the greatest games ever created have had Kojima’s name attached to it. There’s a reasonwhy everyone loves Hideo Kojimaand just becauseDeath Strandingdidn’t please everyone, doesn’t mean that Kojima is untalented or that he can’t deliver.
