The so-called “Liquid Luck” potion also appears inHogwarts Legacy, but it can be a bit confusing at first to figure out how to obtain the recipe. In this game,Felix Felicisis a powerful potion, particularly for those that love hunting for treasure between classes.
Felix Felicis differs from other potions inHogwarts Legacyin a few ways. It can’t be purchased from vendors like J Pippin’s Potions or Fatimah Lawang, and its recipe cannot be purchased either. This will leave players wondering just how this potion can even be brewed. It even has its own shortcut rather than being placed on the Tool Wheel like other potions.

What Does Felix Felicis Do?
Just like in the books and movies, Felix Felicis inHogwarts Legacymakes the player’s character luckier, but this is portrayed in the game by marking the location of large loot chests on the player’s minimap. It’s easy to see how this translates, as the player’s character would theoretically just be stumbling on these large loot chests as the player hunts them down using the minimap markers.
Felix Felicis lasts one whole in-game day and is used by holding L1 and pressing X (LB and A on Xbox). Be sure not towait and advance time inHogwarts Legacywhile Felix Felicis is active.
Where Is the Felix Felicis Recipe
Unlikeevery other potion recipe inHogwarts Legacy, players cannot obtain the Felix Felicis recipe in-game. Instead, the only way of getting access to this recipe and the potion itself is to have pre-ordered the game on PlayStation. Players on other platforms or those that didn’t preorder the game before it was released are unfortunately out of luck. Those that did preorder the game on PlayStation start with the recipe unlocked immediately.
How to Make Felix Felicis
Felix Felicis is made in the same way as other potions, by bringing the appropriate ingredients to a Potions Station. Head to the Potions Classroom orconjure up a Potions Station in the Room of Requirementand bring Lacewing Flies and Fluxweed Stem. The potion only takes a minute to brew.
Hogwarts Legacyis available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. PS4 and Xbox One ports are scheduled to release on April 4; the Nintendo Switch version is arriving on June 29, 2025.
